Took a four-runner hunter chase at Ludlow in April (first run for former yard) before via a below-par run finding himself with this stable. Front runner who has found himself undone by mistakes in his last two starts; blinkers on first-time.

Never really managed to build on her victory on her handicap hurdles debut off this mark at Hereford late last year. Most of not all her hurdles wins rather disappointing after that; this will be her initial chasing effort, tongue-tie on first-time.

First start for this yard having taken a major step forward from his previous chase starts (jumped far better) when winning at Kempton in May (eased clear to win by 6L). Up 8lb for that romp he's not the most consistent but can't be discounted.

Chase debut having failed to sparkle in the majority of his hurdles starts since wining consecutive handicap hurdles in April 2017. Has the physique and scope for chasing and the handicapper certainly gives him a chance.

Never won under Rules (has won two points); displayed some fair form when with Dan Skelton/Charlie Longsdon before. Showed ability in his first completed chase start over 2m1f here last time beaten by well backed and subsequent Irish-trained winner.

Not disgraced here on his chasing debut here last time when third (Starlight Court second) having been a previous bumper/hurdles winner. He's not really bred to be suited by fences though with this increased trip sure to test his suspect stamina.

3-7 between the flags he showed his true work dropped in trip and in a handicap over fences for the first time at Bangor last time defeating a subsequent winner in good fashion. Raised 9lb but may yet do better in this sphere; trip suits well.

Magic Rivert,v54
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-2| J: Kevin Jones(3)| T: M F Harris| OR:  100WS
11/2
PTP winner (1-4) who has yet to win under Rules (0-9) although he did run well over C&D when second in April; matched that form last time at Worcester. Had wind surgery recently; one to note in the market, mark looks no better than average though.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-0| J: P J Brennan| T: G Harris| OR:  77| BF
12/1
Flattered only to deceive on more than one occasion over hurdles leading to a record of 0-19 in that sphere. Failed to impress on her chasing debut (ran in much the same way as she does over hurdles); up in grade, out of the weights; stiff task.

Forecasts

Sunnytahliateigan (3/1), Damut I'm Out (4/1), Mauricio (5/1), Magic River (11/2), Hidden Charmer (7/1), Starlight Court (7/1), Boutan (12/1), Argyle (25/1), Admiral's Sunset (28/1)

Verdict

A fairly modest contest but an interesting one all the same with Damut I’m Out setting the standard having appeared to win with a bit in hand at Bangor last time from a subsequent scorer. He’s paid at the hands of the assessor for that win though having to cope with a 9lb higher mark and that may just allow STARLIGHT COURT the chance he needs to build on his second here last time over 2f shorter with the winner of that race well fancied and a winner again since. Mauricio was back in third that day but despite that run he doesn’t really appeal as a chaser. Sunnytahliateigan goes chasing for the first time he didn’t quite fulfil his potential over hurdles but could do better in this sphere.
  1. Starlight Court
  2. Damut I'm Out
  3. Sunnytahliateigan
