Been well held in all five previous starts and looks to be of limited ability. A standing of 60 in the official ratings leaves the gelding room to move back in handicaps. Needs to improve for the fitting of blinkers.

Acclamation colt who made a satisfactory debut at Goodwood earlier this month (the winner of that race was subsequently third in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot). Not much to find and has to be of interest here.

€15,000 gelding who was well held here on on debut earlier this month. Needs a big step forward, the drying ground might assist.

Yard does well at this course and Franny Norton has powered home a couple of winners for the team in the last fortnight already; the gelding can be bang there if taking a step forward. Shortlist material at least.

Third on debut over the sprint course here but created the impression another furlong won't go amiss in the process. That was encouraging enough to give him place claims if seeing out the trip this time.

Tagula colt out of a Speightown mare, limited appeal on breeding and best watched on racecourse debut despite having the assistance of the leading jockey in the championship race just now.

£105,000 yearling out of a 1m2f winner who is a sister to a Group 3 winner over 7f; pedigree interesting enough to merit a betting check on what is the colt's racecourse debut.

Not been much to take in a positive way from his first couple of starts and it'll be surprising if he's good enough to land this.
£20,000 yearling that is a half-brother to a 1m2f winner in Germany; yard struggling for winners just now and best to take a reserved approach with this racecourse debutante.

Holy Roman Emperor gelding out of an Ishiguru mare, well beaten in both previous starts and has already shown he lacks a change of gear. Very hard to recommend at present.

Slightly hampered on debut and not given a hard time as a result; the form doesn't look anything special but feasible he's better than that. Cost 65,000 gns as a yearling but needs a big step forward to start justifying the investment.

Modest pedigree and best watched unless there's really strong interest from the betting market; but worth bearing in mind that his yard is going well and is capable of landing a touch with an unexposed type.

Poor effort on debut was put to one side with much improved display in modest company at Leicester earlier this month; more needed here but encouraging enough to say he's the stable's preferred option ahead of Quarrystreetmagic.

Verdict

An ordinary maiden gets us underway at Windsor and it might be worth trusting that Mark Johnstone's meticulous form studying can again pay-off with a long distance traveller, as HOMESPIN seeks to build on the form of two encouraging efforts up to press. The winner of his latest start was far from disgraced in a Listed race at Royal Ascot and that form sets a decent enough standard. Good Earth has a similar profile and is rated as the main danger; ahead of Desert Palms, who is likely better than he showed on his debut and merits a betting check. Hubert ran well over the 5f course here on his racecourse bow and is another to bear in mind..
