Arrives in cracking form after back-to-back wins here over 7f and C&D (on good to firm/good to soft). Latest came from 5lb lower against another in-form rival, so form looks solid, but he will need more from this revised mark.

Dual soft ground winner over this trip, the latest with authority at Doncaster last time. Acts on a sound surface, and can't rule him out under a penalty.

Won twice earlier in the season at Leicester (1m, good) and then after a 4lb rise at Musselburgh (1m1f, good). Not as good last time, but no denying that he has each way claims if running his race.

Dual C&D winner, including on good, although is arguably best on faster ground. Looks weighted up to the hilt after his Musselburgh win last month too.

Sole turf win was on fast ground at Brighton in a first-time hood last July. Was a 2½L fourth from 1lb higher against his own age group two starts ago. If in that form, with his age allowance, he would be a player.

Appears best at the much flatter Thirsk circuit and all his best form has been going left-handed. No denying that he is on a competitive mark, and has run well when fresh, so not written off from picking up some prize money.

1-29, having scored for Richard Hannon in 2016. Ran well here over C&D when ½L second from 1lb higher last September. Goes on any ground. Made respectable stable debut last time and not ruled out.

3-12 on AW, but 0-11 on turf (has been placed four times). Dropping to a handy mark now, but others make more compelling cases.

Won an Irish maiden (1m, soft/heavy) when trained by Joseph O'Brien last year. Was 4½L adrift of Redarna over C&D last time, so significant amount more needed from same mark.

Best on fast ground, as he underlined when a 7f scorer here last time. Up 3lb for that, and should be competitive, although this is tougher.

Back-to-back winner here over 1m1f recently, and now 7lb higher than the latter success and in better company. Acts on good ground, but cheekpieces need to help him find some improvement.

Dual 7f winner (on good/good to firm). Went very close here last time in a 0-75 (7f, good to firm). Up 2lb for that, gets this trip, but more needed.

7f Brighton winner last month, when 4lb lower. 4L second here from this mark next time, before being under 3L fourth over C&D (soft) two starts ago. Disappointed last time. Cheekpieces need to help him bounce back.

Forecasts

Redarna (3/1), Burj (9/2), Storm Ahead (5/1), Jackhammer (7/1), Inner Circle (8/1), Intense Style (10/1), Jacob Black (16/1), Ventura Gold (16/1), Smugglers Creek (16/1), Zoravan (20/1), Paparazzi (20/1), Barasti Dancer (20/1), Mango Chutney (50/1), Irish Minister (66/1)

Verdict

Redarna is likely to prove popular back here and while he is in such good form it would be no surprise to see him complete a course hat-trick. However, he is likely to need another career-best to defy a penalty, as are other last-time winners Storm Ahead and Jacob Black. Burj looks interesting with his allowance to assist, but the suggestion is INNER CIRCLE, whose record is admittedly thin on wins, but who may just be heading in the right direction again for a trainer who knows how to win this race.
  1. Inner Circle
  2. Burj
  3. Redarna
