Well-bred and is an interesting handicap debutante who has scope to improve; latest effort was in a tougher looking race than this (for fillies only) at Newmarket earlier in the month. Worth noting in the betting.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-8| J: H Crouch| T: C G Cox| OR:  61

Showed promise in her first couple of starts but pulled hard before being hampered last time out. That form is hard to asses at present and she may be worth another chance; one to monitor closely in the betting.

Form has been average at best so far; will benefit from a strong pace but latest start was a step in the wrong direction. More now needed (been dropped 3lb after dropping out tamely at Leicester a fortnight ago).

Not much to take from his three starts so far and needs to up his game considerably. Bred to appreciate this trip but doesn't look anything special on face value.

Dark Gloryb13

Showed promise on his final start as a juvenile but well beaten in all races this year; best effort was posted over C&D but been disappointing twice since (including a moderate run in first-time blinkers last time out). More needed.

Fourth of seven in a novices' race last time over C&D reads well and can go close in this company of she can up the ante; ground conditions suit her better than a few of the rest. Shortlisted.

Races in a visor for the first time but handicap form has been poor so far and the headgear needs to have a dramatic impact. Others more convincing.

Already getting respite from the handicapper and could get competitive from her current mark; cut in the ground is a concern though.

Yard won the 2017 renewal of this race but this filly has shown little promise so far and the feat is unlikely to be repeated if she runs to the same levels as her last three starts.

Brother Bentleyb14
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: David Probert| T: R Harris| OR:  54| C

Course winner (6f, good) at the start of last month and been kept busy since. Already running off the 6lb hike in the ratings (now just 2lb higher) and has performed moderately since. Hard to recommend.

Horse silk
Glamorous Crescent13
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: J Quinn| T: G Harris| OR:  54| BF

Good effort when second over C&D last month (Dark Glory finished third) and also posted a solid run at Salisbury latest; good chance if taking a further step forward.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-9| J: Joey Haynes| T: A W Carroll| OR:  48

First try over this trip and will have the assistance of a hood and tongue tie for good measure. Hard to envisage the applications having the desired impact to brig about sufficient improvement.

Quarto Cavallo21
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-7| J: R Ffrench| T: A West| OR:  45

Modest form posted so far and plenty to find even though her latest start was her best effort for a while. (Out of the handicap.)

Dancing Jaquetta138
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-7| J: A Mullen| T: D M Loughnane| OR:  45

Not seen on turf since she finished last on her racecourse debut as a juvenile; not improved much since and easy to pass over on these terms.

No improvement since he's been sent handicapping and has a stiff test ahead from out of the weights.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-7| J: Liam Jones| T: G Harris| OR:  45

Poor form until finishing fifth over C&D latest; yet has form to reverse with Glamorous Crescent and Dark Glory. Could be good value to make the frame, however.

Forecasts

Glamorous Crescent (4/1), Dark Glory (9/2), Boorowa (11/2), Old Red Eyes (13/2), Sharqeyya (7/1), Aigiarne (10/1), Bonny Blue (10/1), Brother Bentley (14/1), Immoral (16/1), Rakastava (16/1), Zaula (16/1), Quarto Cavallo (25/1), Little Anxious (25/1), Power Seeker (50/1), Grey Hare (66/1), Dancing Jaquetta (66/1)

Verdict

Plenty of deadwood and this won't live long in the memory, but it does hand a winning opportunity to GLAMOROUS CRESCENT, who is in the process of putting a good run of form together. Dark Glory is weighted to go well here and is feared as a danger after finishing close up behind the selection when they met over C&D last month, while Little Anxious doesn't have too much to find to snatch a share of the place prize-money. Sharqeyya has scope for improvement is worth a betting check, whereas Bonny Blue has C&D experience and can also play a strong part if she can take a step forward.
  1. Glamorous Crescent
  2. Dark Glory
  3. Little Anxious
