Visor replaces the blinkers after a slightly improved effort in headgear last time; unexposed in handicaps and dropped 2lb since his last run. Worth a betting check racing for a top yard.
More exposed than most and needs to prove this trip ideally suits; never won beyond a mile before now and has a bit to prove after running out of steam over this distance at Leicester earlier this moth.
Unexposed handicapper who showed improvement in his first try at race of this nature at Salisbury last month; more to come now that he's proved he's trained on. Up 2lb since his last run but still well worth considering.
Yard did well with its stayers at the Royal meeting last week but also currently going well with runners of this type at this sort of level. This fellow improved when upped in trip last time and is an interesting one to note on his handicap debut.
Showed promise last season but has yet to really build on things this time around. Already dropping in the ratings and has improvement to find.
Modest form so far; was gelded before his latest start but still failed to make much progress; dropped 4lb since then but still looks on to be wary of at present. (Was last on his only previous start over 1m2f.)
Best effort to date when winning over an extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton last month but this is a step up in class and the fact he only went up 2lb for that success says plenty about the worth of the form. More needed in this company.
Shown very little in three starts so far and not hard to overlook now he tries a handicap for the first time.
Forecasts
Starczewski (6/4), Unplugged (5/2), Greeley (11/2), El Picador (8/1), Renardeau (10/1), Lieutenant Conde (10/1), Crackaway (33/1), Pourmorechampagne (66/1)
UNPLUGGED is open to plenty of improvement and, having already proved he handles this trip well, the gelding, who cost 120,000 gns as a yearling, can be expected to take a big step forward on the form shown in three novice stakes before now. Starczewski also has more to offer in terms of handicapping and looks a worthy alternative; similar comments apply to El Picador even though the experiments with different headgear in his last two starts suggests he might not be the most straightforward character. Greeley can make the running and may be set alight by the fitting of blinkers and is another to bear in mind for a place if all eight stand their ground.
- Unplugged
- Starczewski
- El Picador
