Charming Dreamt207
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Nathan Moscrop(5)| T: R Menzies| OR:  120
12/1
Placed in France for Guillaume Macaire (on very soft ground); pulled up on sole UK start for Dan Skelton; returns from a 207 day absence for a new trainer.
2
Horse silk
33/1
Poor Flat maiden (43-rated); kept on from an unpromising position (100/1) when finishing 15L fourth of ten to Some Day Soon over C&D last week.
3
Horse silk
Darry Desboisv1207
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: Craig Nichol| T: M Todhunter
100/1
Well beaten in both starts in bumpers and pulled up on Wetherby hurdles debut (November 2018); very unappealing despite the addition of a visor.
Well beaten in three bumpers (the first two for the late Ken Slack); sold cheaply in January 2019 (£3,000) and is yet to complete in two starts over hurdles.
5
Horse silk
Game Risk92
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: Miss C R Crane(7)| T: C Grant
22/1
Former Irish racer; twice placed for today's rider Charlotte Crane in 3m maiden PTP's (good) at Askham Bryan College; trainer saddles three runners.
6
Horse silk
66/1
From a 2m winning dam (Mountain Willow); makes his racecourse debut at the age of ten for a trainer who saddles three runners (in the same ownership as Red Pepper Lad); unlikely.
7
Horse silk
200/1
Unraced 11yo who carries the same racing silks as stablemate Misterblackpepper; it's highly unlikely that he'll be making a positive impression.
8
Horse silk
Rukwa33
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR:  110
4/1
Took an obvious step forward when bustling up the 4/9f Mystic Court in a 2m maiden hurdle at Huntingdon (good) last month; plenty more appealing than the majority; chance.
9
Horse silk
Still Busy84
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-12| J: C O'Farrell| T: P A Kirby
40/1
Ran five times in Irish bumpers between September 2016 and October 2017 without really troubling the principals; 0-2 in PTP's for Cherry Coward (held by Game Risk); switched to Phil Kirby for a spin over hurdles.
10
Horse silk
Youracert67
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: B S Hughes| T: D McCain Jnr
11/2
Multiplex gelding; bought for £15,000 in April having earlier won a 3m Inch maiden PTP (good) for Terence O'Brien; should make his mark in a desperately weak maiden hurdle; stablemate of Silver Character.
Twice placed over hurdles in France in September 2018; sold for €30,000 in November 2018; no real surprise if he plays a positive role in this weak race for a trainer with a 22% course strike-rate (2-9).
12
Horse silk
7/2
Acquitted himself well on hurdles debut when finishing a clear second best to the 133-rated Glinger Flame over 2m4f here (good) last month; one of a trio of runners for the Catterick handler Phil Kirby.
13
Horse silk
33/1
1m4f AW Flat winner for Tom Dascombe in May 2018; well below such form during the remainder of that season; made mistakes when finishing last of ten on hurdles/stable debut at Bangor (2m+); stablemate of Youracert.
14
Horse silk
Misu Bula27
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-2| J: Ross Chapman| T: P A Kirby
40/1
Placed at odds of 40/1 in a Sedgefield bumper (beaten 20L); 50/1 when finishing last of ten on hurdles debut at Huntingdon (2m, good); one of three declared runners for this trainer.

Forecasts

Boltissime (6/4), Lord Roccoco (7/2), Rukwa (4/1), Youracert (11/2), Charming Dream (12/1), Game Risk (22/1), Cryogenics (33/1), Silver Character (33/1), Misu Bula (40/1), Still Busy (40/1), Misterblackpepper (66/1), Darry Desbois (100/1), Fast And Friendly (200/1), Red Pepper Lad (200/1)

Verdict

An unappealing maiden hurdle in which approximately 75% of the field can be confidently dismissed with a number of trainers holding multiple entries. Of those with previous UK hurdles form both Rukwa and Lord Roccoco have shown more than enough ability to suggest that a race of this nature is well within their comfort zone. Meanwhile, Youracert is a mildly interesting recruit from the Irish PTP scene for Donald McCain but the selection is the French recruit BOLTISSIME for the Worcestershire-based Grand National winning trainer Dr Richard Newland.
  1. Boltissime
  2. Lord Roccoco
  3. Rukwa
