Authoritative winner on his seasonal reappearance in Windsor handicap in May before struggling in pattern company at Sandown (5f, soft) last weekend. Can be forgiven for that run and a danger if the ground dries out.
Made the perfect start for new stable when easing to Hamilton success (5f, good to firm) last month. Tougher contest this time but has the scope to improve if the ground dries. One for the shortlist.
Hasn't won in over a year but has run some creditable races in defeat since, including in 6f Chelmsford listed race this season. Excuses for poor runs in last two starts and dropped 1lb in the handicap. Can't be dismissed.
Winner at York (5f, good to firm) three starts ago but has found life tough since. Flopped at that venue on her latest start off a career-high mark and is dropping back down the handicap, but others preferred in this contest.
Solid competitor in hot handicaps as a two-year-old and showed some signs of rediscovering that form when fourth of 14 at York (5f, good to firm) behind Wedding Date. Place claims if producing his best.
Progressive filly who has thrived since joining her new stable. Made it 2-3 for the yard when making all in a usually-competitive handicap at York (6f, soft) and raised 7lb for that success. Leading player.
Exclusively raced on the AW so far in her career and was well held in a Listed race at Chelmsford (6f, standard) last time. Makes handicap debut here and drop in class will suit, but best watched on turf debut.
Forecasts
Semoum (13/8), Wedding Date (9/2), Philipine Cobra (9/2), Alfie Solomons (9/2), Street Parade (11/1), Fen Breeze (11/1), Chapelli (14/1)
An open-looking sprint contest with various progressive horses taking each other on, but PHILIPINE COBRA looks to have the measure of her opponents. She has been a revelation since switching stables and can notch this race on her way to potentially gaining some black type. There could be more to come from Semoum on his second start for Roger Varian but may find the 5lb rise in the handicap slightly tough, while Street Parade is likely to bounce back to form in a lesser contest than tackled on his last start but is slightly exposed.
- Philipine Cobra
- Semoum
- Street Parade
