Made the most of his drop down in the weights last time on the AW at Chelmsford (1m2f). Back up in trip here which should suit as he was staying on strongly inside the final 1f last time. Major contender.
Dual-purpose gelding who is now off a much lower mark on the Flat than over hurdles. Did not threaten last time at Chester (2m2½f) when 11th of 15 after going off at 50/1. Taking a big step down in trip. One to watch.
Showed some promise earlier this year with a couple of placings to his name. Been last in each of his last three runs though, including at Ripon (1m4f) last time. Really out of form so needs to bounce back.
Failed to win over hurdles or fences in 20 starts. Was a long way off the winner when fifth of 12 last time in a hurdles contest at Hexham (2m). Switch to Flat may help but others are preferred here.
Still a maiden after 20 races and hasn't come close to opening success this year at trips ranging from 1m2f up to 2m2f. Had just one horse behind her last time in a 14 runner field at Wetherby (2m). Hard to make a case for.
Remains a maiden after 11 races. Switch in yards doesn't look to have helped so far. She was last of 12 on the AW at Newcastle (1m2f) last time when going off at 150/1. It would be a big surprise if she was successful.
Made a promising start to season when third of nine at Redcar (2m, good to firm) back in April. Was unable to improve on seasonal reappearance at Ripon (2m, good to soft) as he was eighth of 13. Others preferred.
Searching for her first win since June 2016. Didn't run badly on opening Flat race of the year at Musselburgh (1m4½f) back in April when fifth of eight. Form since then has been poor. Blinkers on for first time. Difficult to fancy.
Forecasts
Grand Inquisitor (8/11), Mirsaale (3/1), Dr Richard Kimble (6/1), Highway Robber (7/1), Fillydelphia (16/1), Windy Writer (40/1), Lots Ov (100/1), Mandarin Princess (100/1)
GRAND INQUISTOR can follow up his latest success here as he remains off a lenient handicap mark, while the step up in distance will suit him. Mirsaale has to be respected but he may have to settle for being in the frame, while Dr Richard Kimble is really out of form at the moment but could bounce back in what doesn't look to be the strongest of races.
- Grand Inquisitor
- Mirsaale
- Dr Richard Kimble
