Promising colt who built on two solid runs over the minimum trip and bolted home in a 6f novice stakes on good ground at Ripon last time. Has to concede 5lb in more testing conditions but should make a very bold bid.

Yard have poor 6% strike rate with their juveniles at this track but this Kodiac gelding has an interesting pedigree and market shoud guide as to expectations on debut.

11/8
Acclamation colt who belied odds of 25/1 when finishing a very good runner-up in York maiden at last month's Dante fixture having always been up with the pace. Brother is Group 3 winner in soft ground so appears to have plenty going for him.

16/1
65,000 guineas Sepoy colt who didn't show a great deal on debut at Yarmouth, soon being outpaced from 2f out over 7f. Drops back in trip but would be a surprise if he's good enough to win.

Horse silk
8/1
15,000 euros Anjaal colt who is a half-brother to six individual winners and there is plenty of pace in the pedigree with the dam a half-sister to July Cup. Jockey has 25% strike rate for yard so worth noting any positive market move on debut.

Forecasts

Praxeology (11/8), Forbidden Land (11/8), Wightman (8/1), Dark Moonlight (8/1), Pitcher (16/1)

Verdict

If FORBIDDEN LAND handles the easier ground he should porve too good for his four rivals having put up an eyecatching performance when second in a decent maiden at York last month. Praxeology has done little wrong and seemed to improve for this trip when romping in at Ripon last time. He has to concede 5lb to the selection though and that won't be easy. Dark Moonlight and Wightman make their respective racecourse debuts and any support would be interesting as both have appealing pedigrees.

  3. Wightman
