Well-bred colt son of Dubawi. Wind surgery seemed to bring out improvement when touched off in a Goodwood handicap (7f, good to firm) last month. Ground is an unknown but still unexposed and likely to have more to offer.
Highly tried two starts ago but ran on well when fourth of 13 in Kempton Handicap (1m, standard) last time out. Still on a lofty handicap mark and is unraced on turf. Others make more appeal.
Heavy ground winner at Carlisle last year, but has shown no signs of that form new yard in two starts. Tailed off at Newcastle on latest start and lots to prove on form to be competitive. Best watched.
Only one win from six starts in an injury-plagued career. Finished last of eight at Redcar (1m2f, good to firm) on stable debut after 303-day break. Drops back down in trip but only dropped 2lb from last run and lots to prove now.
Course winner in June 2016; showed some signs of reviving his best form when sixth at Beverley (1m½f, good to soft) last month. Denied a clear run that day and all three wins have come on soft ground. Interesting place contender.
2-2 at this track since switching back to turf, including C&D handicap (good) in April. Drops back in trip and 5lb handicap rise may not be too much of a problem. Leading contender.
Third in this race last year off 10lb higher mark but out of sorts in last two starts at Beverley. Dropped to career-low mark by the handicapper and needs to up his game in this grade.
4lb below his last winning mark when landing AW handicap at Newcastle in November 2018. Disappointed when finishing 11th of 14 at Redcar (1m, good to firm) when the ground probably didn't suit. Hasn't won on turf. Others make more appeal.
Forecasts
Storm Ahead (3/1), Intense Style (7/2), Wufud (9/2), Astonished (5/1), Dubai Acclaim (6/1), Hammer Gun (8/1), London Protocol (20/1), Watheer (25/1)
Wufud left his previous form behind him on his first run after wind surgery at Goodwood and could me open to more progress in this grade, but is unproven on the forecasted testing ground and shoulders top weight. While Intense Style would have finished closer without interference at Beverley last time out and looks to appreciate some cut in the ground. However, HAMMER GUN makes plenty of appeal. The selection looks to have found a new lease of life on turf and can win this race off his mark despite the step up in grade.
- Hammer Gun
- Wufud
- Intense Style
