Only twice out of the first three here in seven starts, including one C&D win in July last year off 11lb lower mark. Cut little ice in three starts this time so far and hopes rest on this venue rekindling his enthusiasm
2-7 at this track but yet to score over this trip. Handles very soft ground but probably better on a sound surface so will have to improve on figures. Drop back in trip may help.
One of four stable representatives, 4-5 career wins have come at this unique track so clearly loves the Roodee. Shaped well at Pontefract on reappearance then badly hampered and never dangerous at York last time. 3lb below last winning mark.
Third here on his only previous visit, and hinted he might be coming back to form when a close sixth of 1lb higher mark at Ripon last time. Started slowly last two outings so low draw may be problematic.
Previous C&D winner who won first time out this term at Ripon and has not been disgraced despite failing to trouble the judge in his last two starts. Prominent racer so is not without a chance.
Failed to even reach a place in eight previous attempts here, although may were at a higher level. 6lb lower than last win and ran fair third over a mile last time. Tough draw.
2013 Group 1-winning sprinter has been a great servant to connections. Still capable at this grade despite advanced years but has struggled to get involved of late. Further 3lb drop helps the cause and handles testing ground.
Last three wins have all come here over at least 7f so drop back to 6f has to be a concern and seems to be struggling to recpature his best form. Others make more appeal.
Has become an Epsom specialist, last five wins coming on the Downs, so could hardly have been found a more different track. Hasn't shown enough last three runs to suggest he's a winner-in-waitning.
C&D scorer two years ago but has done better on AW since then. Fair second at Wetherby last month on most recent turf start and filled same position at Wolverhampton last time. Runs off 1lb lower mark.
Four course wins to his name including on debut over C&D . Goes well with plenty of cut in the ground and stayed on well to beat subsequent scorer over extended 7f at Beverley last time. In fine heart and should go close despite poor draw.
Nine time AW winner but has yet to score on turf from 25 previous attempts which include just three places. Probably best at 5f and looks an unlikley scorer from wide draw.
Shown very little in seven starts to date and was beaten a very long way last time out at Wolverhampton. Impossible to fancy.
65-race maiden who apperas up against it yet again, although wasn't disgraced at Chepstow last time over 5f. Faces a very tough task.
Forecasts
Quick Look (5/2), Dragons Tail (6/1), Bossipop (6/1), Turanga Leela (13/2), Powerallied (7/1), Maarek (10/1), Gabrial The Tiger (12/1), Penwortham (14/1), Gabrial The Devil (14/1), Calder Prince (20/1), Highland Acclaim (25/1), Lambrini Lullaby (50/1), Red Stripes (50/1), Celerity (80/1)
Richard Fahey has set his stall out in this race and of his four contenders GABRIAL THE TIGER makes most appeal at a track he loves, and following a good success at Beverley last time. His Powerallied is very much respected too. Of the others, Bossipop has claims having been a little unlucky in recent outings, while Dragons Tail has won here twice in the past and might bounce back. The admirable veteran Maarek cannot be ruled out and is well handicapped on his best form of even lats term so a decent bid would not surprise.
- Gabrial The Tiger
- Bossipop
- Powerallied
