An experienced C&D winner who was sixth of 15 runners at Beverley (5f) last time when going off as the 4/1 favourite. Looks to be off a lenient mark here so one to consider on a ground he should have no issues with.

Made a positive start to the season with a second place finish at Newcastle (5f) on the AW and then at Thirsk (6f) on turf. Has since been disappointing on her two appearances, including at Thirsk on last start. Needs to bounce back.

Produced his best run of the year so far when third over this C&D last time out. His sole success did come on the AW. Remains off the same mark as last run and has visors on for the first time here.

A C&D winner who is very experienced with 83 races already under his belt. Didn't come close to scoring in 2018 and there were no signs of any improvement when he was fifth of six runners at Chester (5f) on his reappearance.

Has yet to score in 13 attempts since switching yards but he is a C&D winner. Was 10th of 13 here over this distance earlier this month, while on his latest start, he was a long way down the field on the AW at Lingfield (1m). Others preferred.

A winner on the AW at Wolverhampton (5f) earlier this year but is 0-7 on turf where she has yet to hit the frame. Needs to transfer her form from the Tapeta to turf but for now it is hard to make a case for.

Was third over this C&D on seasonal reappearance. His next two runs over the minimum trip at this course and Carlisle were disappointing. Not won since June 2017 and may have to wait longer for his next success.

Made all on the AW at Newcastle (5f) back in April in his best run for a while. Did not really challenge in his two turf appearances since then, including last time when 8th of 11 over this C&D. Not one that stands out.

Was only beaten by a neck when third at Beverley last time out. Has been running consistently well this season. Still remains off a mark he is more than capable at winning off. Leading contender in the race.

Was third of 14 over this distance at Ripon last time in what was his best run of the season so far. Remains off the same mark as his last outing which puts him in with a good chance. One for your shortlist.

A veteran who has not hit the frame since 2017. His form recently suggests his best days are behind him. On his last start at Carlisle (5f) he was eighth of nine runners when going off at 66/1. Look elsewhere.

Remains a maiden after 15 starts where she has yet to do better than fifth place in any of her handicaps. She was last of eight runners over this C&D last time out. Would be a big shock if she was successful here.

Verdict

GROUNDWORKER ran really well at Beverley last time when only denied by a neck. He remains off a lenient mark which could have been much higher had he finished a neck above his rivals last time. Stick with the experienced gelding to record a win in this competitive handicap. Racquet looks the obvious danger on the basis of his last run when third at Ripon, while Mr Shelby is back down to 5f which is a trip he is more suited to.
