4lb above her latest winning mark and has a good bit to prove after failing to finish in front of a single rival in each of her last two starts. Can make the running but dropped out tamely at Goodwood last month.

Sole win registered over 7f as a two-year-old but has been placed over this trip before now. On a handy mark if she's able to recapture her best. (Yard has won this twice in the last ten years.)

Unproven over this trip and this season's form (two starts) has left a bit to be desired. 1lb below her last winning mark but still has a bit to prove.

Improved since upped to this sort of distance and met a bit of trouble in running when bidding for a hat-trick last time out; the forecast rain shouldn't be an issue. Shortlisted.

Back on the Flat after an unproductive spell over hurdles and needs to improve if she's going to break her maiden at the fourteenth time of asking under both codes.

Won her last two starts in a pleasing manner and entirely possible there's more to come. The 4lb higher mark looks fair and, given that she gets weight from her elders, the improving filly could be hard to resist in her hat-trick bid.

C&D winner in a classified stakes last month and is open to further improvement at the distance. Dangerous to underestimate from the foot of the handicap.

Forecasts

Bella Vita (7/4), Pempie (11/4), She Believes (4/1), Lightening Dance (6/1), Time For A Toot (7/1), Escape The City (15/2), Mystic Meg (11/1), Madeleine Bond (12/1), Pilgrim Soul (40/1)

Verdict

The in-form BELLA VITA has been a revelation since being upped in distance and the Aussie Rules filly is taken as the most progressive option ahead of fellow three-year-old Pempie, who also has scope for improvement but might not want as much rain as has been predicted. By way of contrast She Believes handles a bit of cut in the ground and might well have conditions to suit. Time For A Toot would also be in her element if the heavens open and must enter the calculations if the ground turns in her favour. Lightning Dance completes the list of contenders for the shortlist.
