1-21 to date with sole win coming at Kempton AW over 7f. Has been disappointing this term looking one paced in handicaps over 6-7f. Drop in grade should help but doesn't look one to rely on too heavily.
Won 6f AW seller at Wolverhampton in February last year and went close on seasonal reappearance at Windsor penultimate start when beaten just a head in handicap off 57. Well held since and not favoured by weights.
Popped up at 20/1 in Ffos Las 7f maiden last summer but has made little impression in four handicaps since then. Down in class here and first-time cheekpieces applied so is not out of it with good apprentice claiming 3lb.
Won 5f juvenile Redcar seller last term for Mick Channon then lst form for current yard and was gelded during winter. Two fair efforts at Brighton earlier in the term but ran poorly there last time and has plenty on at the weights.
Fair juvenile last term winning at Newmarket before good second in Woodcote Stakes at Epsom. Has regressed this year and hard to know how much ability remains, but is well in on best form though.
Yard firing in the winners at present and not disgraced penultimate start when close fifth in handicap at Wolverhampton. On balance others make more appeal on this occasion.
Poor form in five starts so far and has never threatened to reach the frame. Probably failed to stay extended mile last time but still needs to take a big leap forward to figure.
€2,500 Elzaam filly is half-sister to seven individual winners all at around 6-7f. Makes debut at lowly level and wouldn't have to be a star to get involved. Market should guide as to expectations.
Only place in 12 starts came in 6f AW handicap last autumn. Very low official rating suggests she has it all to do even at this level.
Hinted at a little ability last term for Tom Clover but has shown nothing in three starts for current yard and looks to have a mountain to climb on recent evidence.
Forecasts
Hellovaqueen (5/2), The Lamplighter (11/4), Hard Solution (11/2), Trotter (6/1), Usain Boat (8/1), Maktay (16/1), Elzaam's Dream (20/1), Tarrzan (25/1), Nervous Nerys (50/1), Tigerinmytank (50/1)
With headgear added for the first time this might be the opporutnity for HELLOVAQUEEN to leave behind some modest recent efforts. In a contest populated by some distinctly moderate performers The Lamplighter has the ability to figure and is not out of it, nor is Usain Boat, best in on BHA ratings but who has struggled so far this campaign. Trotter could prove best of the remainder with experience, while any interest in Elzaam's Dream on debut would be worth noting.
- Hellovaqueen
- Usain Boat
- The Lamplighter
