10,000gns yearling. Third foal. Half-brother to 5f AW winner Miracle Works. Had clearly learnt from debut at Beverley when scoring at Redcar last time, different ground to cope with here and carries a penalty, so more to do.

€22,000 as a yearling, price staying the same as he went through the ring as a 2yo. Bred to be speedy and yard (who have a 17% strike rate with their 2yos here) can ready them first time up.

22,000gns as a yearling; 10th foal, ha;f-brother to some smart sprint winners and made a good impression on debut at York last month, finishing second. Likely to improve again on that and a big player if handling this ground.

£21,000 as a yearling, fourth foal. Decent enough introduction at Pontefract early May but took a backwards step at York last time. Possible this test will suit better and not totally discounted.

10/1
€3,000 yearling, price rising to £22,000 as a 2yo; fourth foal. Should find this a suitable test on debut for a yard that's going well, and have a 14% strike rate with their 2yos here. Watch market is the advice.

19,000gns as a foal, price dropping to £11,000 as a yearling, first foal. Better effort on second start when a staying-on fifth here and this extra furlong should suit. Each-way chances with another bit of progression today.

€10,000 foal, 5,000gns yearling, ninth foal. Stablemate of Teenar but everything about his pedigree says that he'll want a fair bit further than today, and unless strong in the market, is best watched.

Forecasts

Makyon (4/9), Troubador (11/2), Teenar (10/1), Rusalka (10/1), Glory Maker (12/1), River of Kings (18/1), Typsy Toad (28/1), Stormy Bay (40/1), Star's Daughter (100/1)

Verdict

Troubador did the job well enough at Redcar last time and should do better, but he might struggle giving the penalty away to MAKYON, who arguably ran to a better level than that when second on debut at York. He should take a good step forward on that and should take some beating. Teenar and Glory Maker both make some appeal from the newcomers but those looking for an e/w bet could do worse than Stormy Bay, who looks sure to improve for the sixth furlong today.
  1. Makyon
  2. Stormy Bay
  3. Troubador
