In a good spell at the moment and arguably unfortunate last time (slow away/saddle slipped); second at Redcar (6f). Won over C&D earlier in the season off a 4lb lower mark; hard to ignore and expected to be right in the mix.

Some 12lb below her last winning mark but showed little throughout last year finishing well beaten on the AW when last seen. Has to overcome a significant absence; all wins have come off short breaks and her ability to make an impact here is limited.

Hooded (first-time) on her debut for this yard having shown very little in two runs for Jedd O'Keeffe this year. Drops in trip and yet to win a race so other are much preferred in this competitive handicap.

Stepped forward on her previous form when making her handicap/turf debut over 6f here last month. Creditable as that run was behind Ginger Jam she will need to improve further; dropped 2lb in the weights, still looks vulnerable in this grade.

First run for this yard (previously with Ollie Pears) having shown up well last time despite finding the trip (1m2f) far too testing. That run came late last year; now has a significant absence to overcome despite returning over a more suitable trip.

Given three quick runs over 6f-7f in order to gain a mark in little under a month; long way below her first two runs when last seen. Now makes her handicap debut (from an awkward draw) off a mark that looks far from merciful (yard in good form).

Handicap newcomer who hasn't looked the most straightforward in her last two runs on the AW despite finishing placed on both occasions (had run of the race both times). Looks on a reasonable mark but her temperament raises cause for concern.

Overcame a disaster at the starts to finish strongly when taking a Ripon 6f handicap off a 3lb lower mark (finished well; got up close home). That was only her second run back from wind surgery; has yet to convince at this trip, but can't be ignored.

Yet to win a race and returns after a significant absence has kept her away from the course. Yet to try this trip (all form over 5f-6f); hard to fashion a case given the break and facing some in-form rivals.

C&D winner who showed a little more than on her return but still finished well held at Redcar over 1m last time. Well below-par though and some way to go in fitness/form before returning to the form of her last win off a mark of 64.

Winner of a minor event at Catterick last year over 6f on her second start (made all). Failed to match that performance in handicaps since particularly this year in two runs which have proved below-par; 7f looks a stiff test for her.

Looks fully exposed off this mark in handicaps despite running with credit on her last two starts; downgraded to claiming company last time. Has a difficult draw to overcome (stall 1); makes limited appeal (only win so far came in a seller).

A record of 0-17 isn't convincing although her return to action (3lb out of the weights) last time isn't the yardstick on which she should be judged (ran too free over 1m2f). Back down to 7f but still out of the weights; excluded from calculations.

Verdict

Luck in-running may play its part here and contrary to popular opinion the wider draws are more likely to contain the winner. SUPAULETTE had an unfortunate experience last time but still managed to finish a respectable runner-up at Redcar last time and she’s expected to confirm earlier form with The Stalking Moon although that one must be also considered in a race that could well prove strong form for the grade. Club Tropicana carries a 5lb penalty for her recent win and must also be respected with Kermouster the pick of the three-year-old contingent although this trip is an unknown.

  2. The Stalking Moon
  3. Club Tropicana
