Won three times in France including at Listed level and returned to form at Hamilton last time out when runner-up. This looks tougher but first-time cheekpieces may eke out improvement.
Won back-to-back 7f races on fast ground last summer but signs the handicapper has caught up with him on more recent evidence. Probably at his best over a slightly shorter trip and not getting any younger; others preferred.
Most recent win came in 2017 but he hinted at a return to form on AW at the end of last year and his return run at Chester was promising enough. Likely to come on for that and the extra ½f should also help; each-way claims.
Impressive when winning on AW in April 2018 but has lost his way since. Showed very little post wind operation last time out and has plenty to prove at present.
Won a minor race in France for Pascal Bary and generally consistent on those shores. Well beaten off a stiff looking handicap mark on debut for this yard last time but may come on for that run at least and the step back up in trip will suit.
Respectable efforts in a trio of novice races in 2018, most notably when caught close to home at Pontefract last time. The level of that form looks fairly solid and given a fair mark for handicap debut so may do better here if ready to go on return.
Won three times after joining this yard last year and seemingly at his best at this trip/in these conditions. Promising enough effort on Beverley comeback run and back below his last winning handicap mark. Engaged at Beverley Wednesday.
Won on seasonal debut last year and has been running well on AW this Spring. Well beaten at Musselburgh when last seen, this new trip is an unknown and above his highest winning handicap mark so has questions to answer.
Belatedly off the mark in first-time cheekpieces at Redcar in October and shaped well on reappearance at Thirsk last time. Finishing effort isn't always strong but may do better in just his second season and not one to rule out.
Forecasts
Markazi (11/4), Make Me (4/1), Mazyoun (5/1), Club Wexford (13/2), Cheer The Title (7/1), Frankelio (8/1), Calder Prince (12/1), Sureyoutoldme (22/1), Big Storm Coming (50/1)
MARKAZI finds himself in a deeper race here than his test at Hamilton last time out but first-time headgear may bring about some improvement and he was a Listed performer in France last year. Mazyoun looks likely to come for his reappearance run and his rider's 5lb claim will help. Frankelio will appreciate the step up in trip and may have more to give for his new connections.
