This would seem his level these days despite slipping well below his last winning mark and he has found some consistency of late. Runner-up for the fourth consecutive time recently at Hexham; cheekpieces go back on, tendency to find one to good.

Dual winner around here once over fences at this trip off a 10lb lower mark (that was his last win). Form rather erratic since then but did run well when last seen over hurdles in first-time cheekpieces; back from a wind op; market to provide clues.

1-12 over fences having scored at Bangor last May (well supported under a positive ride); consistent enough since off higher marks. There is an air of underachieving about him though confirmed last time at Sedgefield; cheekpieces on first-time.

Front-runner who can be rather free on the pace or asked to do too much; capitalised on a reduced mark when scoring at Sedgefield in January. Blinkers now tried (first-time) to combat a weak finish that has been prevalent since his last win.

Pulled up in three of his last five starts he continues to disappoint with his latest run confirming he's miles away from any sort of form. 0-10 over fences and despite a rapidly declining mark he's easily recommended as one to avoid.

Lightly-raced sort (given his age) under Rules while his form so far can only be recorded as modest. Sent chasing last time he finished well beaten (suffered an overreach); looks hard to train and makes very limited appeal.

Regressed since joining this yard having signed off from his time at Sue Smith's with consecutive course chase victories (2m5f). Fallen back below that last winning mark now and probably needed the run last time; hard to recommend though.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-7| J: Charlie Hammond(3)| T: S-J Davies| OR:  88

Yet to win a race and his hurdling form can only be classed as modest; fared little better than that level switched to fences at Warwick last time from out of the weights. Hard to weigh up but is eased in grade and races off his proper mark.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-4| J: Thomas Willmott(7)| T: M Todhunter| OR:  85

Run some of her better races over fences around Sedgefield so this course should suit; often very forcibly ridden. Given a slightly more conservative ride last time she ran her best race to get off the mark; 6lb higher, still respected.

Forecasts

Oliver's Gold (11/4), Ringaringarosie (10/3), Zolfo (4/1), Jokers And Rogues (11/2), My Renaissance (7/1), Gris De Pron (17/2), Carlingford Prince (12/1), Secret Melody (14/1), Brother Scott (33/1)

Verdict

This race presents Oliver’s Gold with a good chance to end his run of seconds especially as he has C&D form and the mark isn’t an onerous one but the suspicion is that he may find one too good again. Given the fact that Jokers And Rogues is an out-and-out front runner pace won’t be a problem here but his finishing efforts can be rather weak and the long run-on may well leave him vulnerable. Zolfo can travel well without finding much and despite a 6lb rise RINGARINGAROSIE is taken to follow up her Sedgefield win presented with a similar scenario to that win. My Renaissance can’t be ignored especially having run well over C&D before; the market likely to tell the story about his expectations.
  1. Ringaringarosie
  2. Oliver's Gold
  3. My Renaissance
