Unexposed in comparison to a lot of these after having just the ten runs. Last two efforts have been dreadful, however. Big chance if able to rediscover the form of his second at this track which was achieved in March.
Course-specialist who has won here nine times. Decent effort when finishing midfield at Thirsk last time (6f; good to soft). Comes back to 5f and this admirable servant to connections cannot be dismissed.
Won a match a this course when sent off as the 2-5F three starts back. Well fancied again after that but failed to fire. Put that firmly behind him when back to form at Thirsk (6f; good). Obvious contender.
Becoming a tad frustrating. Sent off 7-4F last week at Ripon (5f; good) and finished second again (beaten three length). Raised 6lb for that and unlikely to see him winning now.
Three runs this season and the best of those was by far the latest one when third at Beverley (5f; good to soft). First run on the AW since finishing last at Chelmsford a year ago and he does seem to prefer it soft.
Possibly needed the run when midfield (not beaten far) at Windsor (5f; good) on seasonal return. Mark has been sliding and he is now 8lb below last winning mark. Dangerous to dismiss.
C&D winner two starts ago. Not disgraced since when finishing midfield in a competitive Class 4 event at Thirsk (5f; good). Tends to run in better class races, but he will appreciate the return to calmer waters. Shortlist material.
Three time winner from seven visits to this track. 3lb above last winning mark and he holds place claims at the very least as he returns to the AW.
Out of form last time but that seventh-placed effort came in a Class 4 contest at Thirsk (5f; good). Had previously gone close to winning for the first time in two years when second at Musselburgh (5f; good).
Never ran at Southwell before. Running well this year. Disappointing two starts ago, however he put that well behind him with a good second at Wolverhampton (5f; standard) recently. Interesting contender.
In the form of her life at the moment and hasn't finished out of the front two in her last nine runs, winning twice at this track during that hot streak. Major player and possesses a consistency which is usually hard to find in these races.
Four time C&D winner and is usually a consistent sort. Below-par last time when finishing last at Newcastle (5f; standard), but he has disappointed there before and he could bounce back at a track he runs well at.
Arrives here from Ireland. On a fairly long losing run and two runs so far this season have offered no encouragement whatsoever. Hard to fancy.
Forecasts
Tricky Dicky (5/2), Honey Gg (6/1), Show Palace (8/1), Crosse Fire (17/2), Suwaan (10/1), Samovar (12/1), Han Solo Berger (12/1), Mininggold (14/1), Qaaraat (16/1), Big Time Maybe (18/1), Eternal Sun (20/1), Sahreej (33/1), Archimedes (33/1)
Despite finishing in eighth place, Han Solo Berger ran a lot better than the finishing position suggests. The manner of that effort hinted at Chris Wall's charge threatening to come back to form soon. Tricky Dicky produced his best run for some time when taking an 11-runner handicap at Thirsk 10 days ago and can prove second best to HONEY GG who has been in rude health since winning a competitive sprint handicap at Ayr back in October. She has ran eight times since then and has either won or finished runner-up in each of those starts with six of those runs coming at this track.
- Honey Gg
- Tricky Dicky
- Han Solo Berger
