Kingman colt; 115,000gns yearling; made all when winning in fine style (6L) at Chester's May Festival (5f, soft); difficult to assess the actual value of that form and will encounter quicker ground, yet still rates as a most exciting prospect.

Brazen Beau colt; 34,000gns yearling; showed pace and battling abilities when fending off the subsequent Pontefract scorer Alminoor on debut at Musselburgh (5f, good to firm); returns to the track from a seven week absence.

Dialed In colt; $80,000 yearling; took up an option at Newcastle (5f) in late April in a week where he held a plethora of other entries, beating Bezzas Lad by a short-head (Dutch Decoy the heavily backed favourite flopped); turf debut.

Off to a flying start early season, demonstrating explosive early pace when winning back-to-back 5f races on the AW at Lingfield and Kempton; the combination of a slow start, a moderate draw and softer ground did her very few favours at Chester.

£10,000 yearling; shaped with promise on her Nottingham debut (third) and found an ideal opportunity to get off the mark at Chepstow (5f, good to firm) a fortnight later; merits respect, but will find this a more difficult assignment.

No Nay Never filly; €58,000 yearling; always handy when going down by ¾L to Ventura Rebel (an Ascot winner since) on debut at Thirsk six weeks ago; could have more too offer as a sister to the 6f winner North Wind.

Verdict

Not the most sizeable of turnouts for the National Stakes but those declared have already won the equivalent of a race each between them, with the once-raced Jm Jackson the only horse yet to visit the winners enclosure. Although it is difficult to assess the worth of his emphatic Chester debut win, David O'Meara's FULL AUTHORITY couldn't have been any more impressive on the rain-softened ground. Despite conditions set to be riding plenty quicker tonight (good), he's still by far the most logical choice.
