Improved under front-running tactics last summer, winning Windsor maiden and 7f novice at Kempton. Only seventh of eight in nursery at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) when last spotted, though could have more to offer before long.

Gelded son of Showcasing cost £30,000, won his second start on the AW in December. Only sixth of 12 in minor event over C&D (good to soft; 3-1) 10 days ago, finding little under pressure. Handicap bow.

Remains a maiden after 15 starts but has started life for new yard with three good efforts, including a close latest second at Pontefract (6f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Should have valid claims once again.

Without a win in five starts as a juvenile, but signed off her campaign with an excellent second of 28 in a valuable sales race at Newmarket. Needs to have come on for Doncaster (6f, good) reappearance however.

Returned to action win improved effort to score at Doncaster (6f, good) late last month, staying on strongly to get the verdict and seemingly should have more to come on the evidence.

Good second over 7f on debut at Newmarket (good-to-soft) last August. Below that form in four subsequent starts most recently at Brighton this month (7f, good; 11-8) when pulling hard early doors. Needs to settle better, not dismissed.

Career-best when winning 19-runner handicap at Thirsk (6f, good to firm; 11-1) on recent reappearance. Carries additional 6lb for that success but shapes as one that will have more to give.

Forecasts

Staycation (5/2), Socru (7/2), Aghast (9/2), Lively Lydia (6/1), Time For Bed (13/2), Di Matteo (7/1), Benny And The Jets (10/1), Requited (12/1), Hello Bangkok (16/1), Walkman (20/1)

Verdict

An interesting race to end the card and a few with valid claims. Staycation has knocked on the door twice of late and done little wrong in finishing second but might again settle for a minor supporting role now. AGHAST was much-improved when dismissing a big field on his reappearance at Thirsk and might well be up to defying his penalty for the in-form Kevin Ryan/Kevin Stott team. Doncaster winner Socru represents a significant danger to the selection, while Lively Lydia and Di Matteo are possible improvers.
