Kept on stoutly to win at Ripon last month, and ran creditably without improving when third at Thirsk on latest start. Sets the standard, but not an insurmountable one.
Has a speedy pedigree and ran well when third of 7 to Lady Quickstep in a 5½f maiden at Brighton on debut, racing on opposite side to the winner. Should improve, and enters calculations.

Showed more than a modicum of promise when 5L fourth of 9 to Probable Cause on debut at Wolverhampton, and will improve. With yard's juveniles going well, it's folly to ignore his chances.

Gelded son of Sepoy out of a maiden half-sister to high-class 7f/1m winner Delegator. Yard 0-10 with 2-y-o debutants since 2017.

€8,000 Anjaal colt who is half-brother to an Italian sprint winner. Took time for the penny to drop when fourth of 8 to Silver Start on debut at Bath, and sure to improve, so considered.

By Power out of a 5f winner. Yard 0-13 with newcomers this term, but most of those ran well (six placed), and a market check is needed.

Requinto filly with an ordinary pedigree, and fitted with a visor for debut, which is not a great sign, but yard has an excellent record with juvenile newcomers (8-19 this year), which means she's a must for the short list.

Just ¾L behind Manolith when fourth of 12 to Insania in similar event at Thirsk on debut, and has claims of reversing form with the benefit of that run.

Forecasts

Manolith (7/2), Bushtucker Trial (4/1), Royal Ambition (9/2), Spring Bloom (5/1), My Motivate Girl (7/1), Royal Lightning (7/1), Call Me Cheers (10/1), Ossco (20/1)

Verdict

Manolith sets the form standard, but looks vulnerable to improvers, including Royal Lightning, who was less than a length behind the top-weight last time on her debut. MY MOTIVATE GIRL represents a yard with a tremendous record with debutants, and she gets the verdict for all the fitting of a visor for debut does not fit Archie Watson's modus operandi as yet. Bushtucker Trial and Royal Ambition are others who come into the reckoning after encouraging debut efforts.
  1. My Motivate Girl
  2. Manolith
  3. Bushtucker Trial
