Off the mark at the eighth attempt when scoring by a short head over C&D in September, but followed that with a tame effort the following month, and yard traditionally slow to hit stride in the spring.

Third to Jordan Electrics here in September, and well ahead of that rival when runner-up in a C&D nursery in October. Up in the weights for that effort, and needs a bit more to shed her maiden status.

Has improved since fitted with blinkers, winning a pair of 5f handicaps on Fibresand at Southwell. Needs to prove he can translate that form to turf, but folly to ignore.

Yet to build on promise of her debut effort at Dundalk for Ger Lyons, but not disgraced on debut for current yard at Wolverhampton, and may well do better now handicapping.

Respected on form she showed to win a nursery at Naas in September for Johnny Murtagh, but efforts for new yard have been very disappointing, and she's hard to support with any confidence.

Sole win came over 6f at Newcastle, and found this test sharp enough when 6½L third of 8 to The Defiant last time. Held on revised terms, and will be better back up in trip.

Stepped up markedly on qualifying runs when 2L second of 8 to The Defiant on handicap debut over C&D last time, and that looks a solid piece of form. Can go close on 7lb better terms.

Soundly beaten at big prices on all starts to date, and while she has more chance of being competitive now handicapping, it's hard to see her taking a hand unless a tongue tie has a dramatic effect.

Forecasts

Brahma Kamal (15/8), The Defiant (11/4), Fairy Fast (4/1), Northern Society (6/1), Dancing Mountain (6/1), Gunnabedun (17/2), Jordan Electrics (9/1), Popping Corks (12/1), Milabella (50/1)

Verdict

THE DEFIANT may have gone up 7lb for winning a modest event over C&D last time, but he belongs in a higher grade in truth, and should shrug aside the burden. Brahma Kamal did best of his opposition last time on handicap debut, and probably deserves extra credit for that, so appeals most of the rest, ahead of Gunnbedun and Northern Society.

  2. Brahma Kamal
  3. Gunnabedun
