Remains a maiden after 15 starts and will need to significantly better effort than over this trip at Redcar three weeks ago. Mark is slipping all the time bu more needed.

Won on the AW at Dundalk on her juvenile debut but was well beaten in her only previous try on turf. Open to improvement though and interesting that she's being persevered with; worth noting in the betting.

Largely disappointing last year and opening mark looked fairly harsh. Not been with this yard long and returns from a six month break. Hard to fancy strictly on form but market check needed on return.

Hasn't won since winning this race last year. Not at best on a couple of starts on the AW so far this year and needs to take a step forward now returning to turf and trying to defend his crown.

11 of his 13 wins have come at Southwell and he is much higher rated on the AW. Has won on turf in the past so dangerous to dismiss running of a much lower turf mark here.

There has been signs of ability in three starts on the AW. Drops in trip for turf/handicap debut and could be more to come now. Market check needed.

n good form on the AW in recent months including when winning over 6f at Lingfield three starts back. Not at best at Brighton last time but capable of bouncing back and being in the mix once more.

Lightly-raced sort who scored on his handicap debut over 6f (Newcastle) before failing over the same C&D to cope with a 5lb rise. Creditable efforts the last twice back on turf including over C&D and just needs to eek out a bit more.

Returned to form when winning in soft ground over this tip at Redcar in October. Not as good next time and hasn't been seen since. Returns from an absence and entitled to need the run. Any ran a plus.

Fair handicapper at best but going through a barren spell at the moment (last win June 2017). Finished last of 17 over C&D last time and hard to trust at present.

Previous C&D winner that is more than capable on a going day. Remains on a fair mark but has been largely out of form for a while and needs to bounce back to be involved.

Has a better strike rate on the AW but certainly capable of going well on turf. Needs to improve on recent efforts but not one to discount at a price.

Milton Road9

Been getting closer with each run and travelled well for a long way at Musselburgh last time when narrowly denied. Drop back to 6f is a plus here and is a leading contender once more.

Cliff28
Age: 9|  Weight: 9-2| J: Izzy Clifton(7)| T: N Tinkler| OR:  55| CD

Entitled to come on for recent run over C&D. Best efforts tend to come with a little give in the ground so any rain would be a plus. On a fair mark and capable of going well having won over C&D in the past.

Someone Exciting12
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-0| J: Harrison Shaw(5)| T: D Thompson| OR:  53| CD

Previous C&D winner who shaped with promise on return to action at Newcastle (5f, AW) two weeks ago. Step back up in trip a positive and every reason to believe she will go well again.

Forecasts

Lucky Lodge (7/2), Ginger Jam (5/1), Milton Road (11/2), Spirit Of Zebedee (7/1), Searanger (10/1), Crosse Fire (14/1), Canford Art (14/1), Coastal Drive (14/1), Someone Exciting (16/1), Gilmer (20/1), My Name Is Rio (22/1), Danehill Desert (25/1), Cliff (33/1), Picture Your Dream (40/1), Hop Maddocks (50/1)

Verdict

MILTON ROAD is improving with racing and travelled like the best horse in the race when a close second last week. The drop in trip can do the trick here and he can get back to winning ways. Searanger will need to bounce back if he is to repeat last years success. The two at the bottom of the weights in Cliff and Someone Exciting both need consideration in an open finale.
  1. Milton Road
  2. Someone Exciting
  3. Cliff
