Took advantage of reduced mark to win cosily dropped to 5f at Ripon two weeks ago. Up 4lb for that but value for his win there and every chance of going well once more if as effective back up to 6f.

In decent form over 5f at the back-end of last year and returns today after a six month break. Should be more to come this year and yards runners tend to be ready first time. Player with further progress to come.

Newmarket novice winner last year, remains lightly-raced but has found things tough in two handicaps so far. Down 3lb and in class but needs to find more in first-time cheekpieces.

Having first start for almost a year when always in rear at Pontefract last month. Entitled to come on a fair bit for that but hard to fancy all the same. Market might be the best guide to his chances here.

Hamilton 6f auction stakes winner last year and ran well for a long way before getting tired on reappearance at Pontefract last month. Built on that effort when a close third at Wetherby two weeks ago and could be a player with more to come.

Won a novice event at Chelmsford this time last year but her form tailed off when she moved into handicaps. Returns from a nine month absence today and starts out for a new yard. Market clues could be noteworthy.

Off the mark in a competitive handicap at Doncaster (6f, soft) back in November. Just 3lb higher here but excellent young riders claim more than offsets that. Sound claims if fit and ready to go after a break and any rain is a positive.

Off the mark at the third attempt when winning a 6f novice event at Carlisle last August. Hasn't been seen since finishing 2¼L behind My Boy Lewis at Doncaster in November. Has a bit to find with that rival on return from a break.

Well held on all three starts so far with the last pair coming over 7f. Drops in trip for handicap debut and no surprise to see him to better effect now. Market check very much needed.

Found the WIndsor Castle too hot last summer on the back of winning at Goodwood. Three starts so far this year have only been fair and needs to up his game to be winning this. Mark is falling so not discounted in first-time cheekpieces.

Too keen to do himself justice over 7f at Redcar two starts back. Shaped with real promise when held up of the pace at Doncaster last time and finishing to good effect. Down another 1lb here and could be dangerous if things fall right.

Just four starts as a two-year-old and has ability. Things did not go to plan on handicap debut at Pontefract in October and failed to beat a rival that day. Returns from a break and is on a fair mark based on novice form. Should do better this year

Landed Souithwell Fibresand 5f maiden in February and beaten just half a length over same C&D on handicap bow soon after. Not at that level the last twice on turf and needs to find a little extra.

C&D winner on final start last year off a 3lb lower mark. Looked in need of the run on return to action at Doncaster two weeks ago and should come on for that. Every reason to expect a better showing here.

Quick ground Beverley nursery winner (7½f) for Tom Dascombe in August 2018. Not been in the best of form in two starts so far this year but has dropped to a mark only 1lb higher than that last win. Drops in trip here and a player at best.

Won on debut at Beverley and she had held her form well subsequently, runner-up three times in her juvenile career. Soundly beaten though on reappearance and will need to show considerably more to be involved here.

Iffraaj colt, cost 60,000 gns as a yearling and 130,000 gns as a Breeze-up purchase. Well held on all three starts last year over further. Drops in trip for handicap debut having had wind surgery and a market check is essential.

Mayson filly who hasn't shown a great deal in her three starts to date. Likely to be a different proposition this year for her excellent trainer and no surprise were she to play a part on handicap debut.

Forecasts

Look Out Louis (9/2), Northernpowerhouse (6/1), Serengeti Song (12/1), House Deposit (12/1), Dancing Rave (12/1), Across The Sea (14/1), Arogo (14/1), Fair Alibi (16/1), Mark's Choice (16/1), Klopp (16/1), My Boy Lewis (16/1), Kermouster (20/1), Five Helmets (20/1), Kapono (20/1), Gylo (25/1), Goldino Bello (25/1), The Last Party (25/1), Fairy Stories (33/1), Carey Street (33/1), Musical Sky (40/1)

Verdict

Mark's Choice won a shade cosily at Ripon two weeks ago and is very much respected here going back up to 6f. Accross The Sea and Look Out Louis both have the potential to do better this term. Any market support for either Arogo or FAIRY STORIES could be significant and marginal preference is for the latter who didn't pull up any trees in her three starts last year but is entitled to do much better now tackling handicaps.
  1. Fairy Stories
  2. Across The Sea
  3. Arogo
