Last win came for Mark Johnston in August 2017 and now 7lb lower. Rather lost his way in four starts for Jonjo O'Neill last season. Resumed down in grade for new stable and probably remains best watched for now.
Ended last season with a win over two miles on the AW at Kempton off just 3lb lower. Was denied a clear run when travelling strongly and got out too late on her reappearance at Goodwood. Likely to have more to offer this campaign.
Ended last season with a poor run but remains lightly raced and his sole win came on his season reappearance last year off just 1lb lower. Possibilities following a wind operation but needs to prove he needs this far.
Made his breakthrough over 1m4f at Haydock in September when hitting the line strongly. Below that in two starts since in much stronger company, including on reappearance and now back in grade. Could shape better in conditions that suit.
Winner of a pair of 2m2f staying handicaps at Pontefract last October and has tended to need the run in the past, so should be fitter for his Southwell reappearance. However ideally needs a stiffer test.
Remains in flying form after a hit-trick of AW wins was followed by two seconds and then a winning return to turf at Bath. Proving very progressive and could go close again but unproven on this ground and all four wins have come in a grade lower.
Winner of one of his 10 starts on the Flat with two spells in France and a second now back in the UK. 4lb lower than sole win over two miles on the AW but one to watch for now following a disappointing stable debut.
On a 5lb lower mark on turf compared to the AW but still 4lb higher than hat-trick of wins on the AW last September. Only one second from seven turf starts and that came on quick ground so has questions to answer here following a poor run.
First run on the turf since her only start in France. Looked to be shaping well when a good second in an AW maiden on her third start for new yard but disappointing next on handicap debut. Needs to see out the distance better on season debut.
Finished off last year with a flourish, winning at Kempton and then a close third at Wolverhampton, both over 2m. Ran to that level on season and stable debut at Lingfield and can be competitive if handling the different conditions back on turf.
Daughter of Medicean has proved regressive since a promising sixth on debut at Newbury in October 2017.. 100/1 and tailed off in a weaker grade at Windsor on reappearance and hard to make any sort of case for.
Races from 6lb out of the handicap with just one win from 24 starts coming in a maiden here back in 2016. Two runs this year for new yard don't suggest he can feature in this company.
Forecasts
Nuits St Georges (7/2), Singing The Blues (9/2), Sassie (11/2), Pumblechook (11/2), Manor Park (8/1), Bodacious Name (14/1), Looking For Carl (16/1), Swordbill (16/1), Remember The Man (18/1), Torch (18/1), Principia (20/1), Tuscan Pearl (33/1)
Singing The Blues is in such good form he will be popular and likely to go well but the class and ground do provide a couple of stumbling points. SASSIE really shaped well on her first run back and could have gone close with a clear passage. She looks one to follow while Nuits St Georges has been racing in better company and has a lot going for him in these conditions.
- Sassie
- Nuits St Georges
- Singing The Blues
