C&D winner who is approaching the veteran stage now but was back to his best when scoring consecutive wins late last year ending a tortuous losing run. Well below form since though; not one to trust implicitly.

Losing run is starting to build and his recent starts haven't given much of a hint that he's about to come back to life. Too inconsistent to recommend here despite the fact that he went too hard up front; would face pace pressure here.

Rare Northern runner for this yard (0-6 here); showed some promise in bumpers and the same could be said of his hurdling exploits so far. Handicap debut comes over the longest trip he's tried so far with a top conditional taking the ride.

Dual Flat winner over 1m4f; weak in the market on her handicap debut (below form last time; novice company) and doesn't look that well handicapped off this mark. Needs to find some improvement to get competitive; progress looks to have stalled.

A full 21lb below his last winning mark on his last start he did at least take a small step back in the right direction but failed to impress in the jumping department. Shown more mercy by the assessor; can't be totally dismissed lowered another 4lb.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-0| J: Steven Fox| T: N C Kelly| OR:  92

Poor maiden hurdler (0-8) who has won four times on the Flat but appears not to have transferred her ability on the level to this sphere. Moderate performance at Sligo last time didn't really set the pulse racing even in this lowly grade.

Our Cilla7
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-13| J: Harry Teal| T: A Crook| OR:  91

Her third on handicap debut at Newcastle over 3m looked to have given her some foundations to build on but those hopes were dashed with a moderate effort last time at Uttoxeter. That run leaves a doubt about her here; others appeal more.

Witness36
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-11| J: Billy Garritty(6)| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  89
14/1
Capable on his day but has struggled to put all his best efforts together typically following a good run with a poor run as has happened for his last two starts. Ought to be capable off this mark; hard to have total faith in given his overall record.

Regular visitor to this track and opened his account with a C&D win back in November off a 2lb lower mark. His starts since then haven't really impressed including here over C&D; break may have helped freshen him up for this.

His win at Stratford last time out saw him build on his previous Sedgefield second and end what had become a long losing run off a mark of 82. Up 6lb for that victory he's still of interest despite that rise; has won off higher marks in the past.

Had been in a decent if rather modest level of placed form at the end of last year which ended abruptly at Ayr in January folding up very quickly. Yet to win a race and hardly on an ultra-attractive handicap mark even at this level.

Would have a chance if she were able to repeat her C&D victory just over a year ago off an 11lb higher mark. Generally been well below-par since then though and not much evidence that she's likely to bounce back here.

Forecasts

Nocturnal Myth (3/1), Boher Lad (11/2), Champagne Chaser (6/1), Chocolat Noir (13/2), Moidore (8/1), Lawtop Legend (10/1), Broadway Belle (12/1), Witness (14/1), Calliope (22/1), Isharah (25/1), Real Armani (25/1), Moorlands Mist (40/1), Our Cilla (40/1)

Verdict

The mark that BOHER LAD struck off at Stratford last time was his lowest for some while and even with the 6lb rise in the weights he’s still on a very workable mark having won off a lot higher in the past. Nocturnal Myth looks as though he’ll improve for this trip and going into handicaps and is sure to be well supported. Moidore can’t be ignored off this mark as he’s now a very leniently treated horse on his old form and he indicated he could be ready to take a further step back in the right direction last time. Cases could also be made Witness and Lawtop Legend on some of their form although neither is a certainty to produce it.
  1. Boher Lad
  2. Nocturnal Myth
  3. Moidore
