Appeals on pedigree but not on the worth of the effort the filly posted after being hampered on debut at Wolverhampton last month; purchase price of €60,000 as a yearling does suggest that she's a long term prospect though.

Never a factor on debut at Newbury last month and big improvement required. The drop in trip might help but there is still a big step forward needed.

Cost 72,000 gns as a yearling, the filly showed signs of ability in two starts on the AW late last year. More required but the switch to turf can help. Worth a betting check.

Cost 4,000 gns and is related to a handful of winning sprinters. Yard is going well even though the strike-rate with debutantes could be better. Still would have to be of interest if supported in the betting.

Cost £28,000 and is related to winners over 5f and 7f; her dam is a half-sister to the classy Cathederal, who landed a Listed race over the minimum trip. Likely to benefit from the run but is worth noting for future reference.

Plenty to like about the filly's debut run at Leicester last summer and respected on that effort. Needs to bounce back after a poor run on the AW last month and has to prove she's trained on.

Sire was a useful sprinter and is out of a 6f winner as a juvenile, so plenty to like about the breeding side of things. Yard not noted for first time out winners though.

Made no impression on debut at Newmarket last month but entitled to have benefited from the experience. Yard had a winner at Yarmouth on Monday and looks to be starting to fire, so still worth a betting check.

Daughter of the useful Kingman and a half-sister to five winners; represents a yard going very well just now; well worth a betting check at least.

Breeding suggests a mile will suit before too long and ran accordingly over 5f at Ripon on debut last August. Might just need the run this time.

No support in the betting when the filly finished tailed off on debut at Pontefract on debut last month. Big amount of improvement required.

Second in a conditions race at Ascot last May is a solid effort but not so good twice since; including when brushed aside on seasonal return on the AW in May. However, dangerous to rule out and sets the standard on BHA ratings.

Forecasts

Royal Welcome (6/4), Mina Velour (7/2), Parion (9/2), Vikivaki (7/1), Bedtime Bella (14/1), Leopardina (16/1), Saltie Girl (25/1), Impressionable (40/1), Rimmal (50/1), Mendamay (100/1), The Thorny Rose (100/1), Raspberry (125/1)

Verdict

Vikivaki is the only one with an official rating and does set a decent standard if she can run to the level of her effort when placed in a conditions race at Ascot last season. However, she's already exposed and needs to up her game after a poor effort on the AW in May. Therefore, preference is for the potential held in the pedigree of ROYAL WELCOME and the daughter of the high-class Kingman could be good value here. Leopardina has hinted at ability and is another to bear in mind, while Rimmal and Parion have improvement to find but cannot be confidently ruled out at this level.
  1. Royal Welcome
  2. Vikivaki
  3. Leopardina
