Capable sprinter when on song as he twice demonstrated in 2018 when delivered late over 6f at Fairyhouse; well weighted after an unproductive spell on the AW (Dundalk); stays 7f; major player.

2lb lower than when winning a veterans' handicap at Catterick (6f, soft) in October 2018; showed speed until weakening from the furlong pole over 5f here last month.

Won twice at Hamilton (1m-1m1f) in August 2018, and sits just 2lb above his last winning mark; today's trip looks to be on the sharp side for his seasonal reappearance and ideally requires softer ground conditions than forecast.

Much more effective on turf (5-42) than on the AW (0-22); fairly attractively handicapped based upon his placed 7f form at Ayr in July 2018; each-way possibilities.

31-race maiden with a plethora of previous placed efforts; eye-shields now accompany the blinkers; trainer has a fine overall record with his Scottish raiders (often at Ayr).

A heavy ground 1m Ayr winner for Keith Dalgleish in late 2017; woeful on all three starts in 2019 (two of those were over hurdles); no obvious reason as to why she should be competitive.

30-race maiden; so often the gift that kept giving to the bookmakers in the early months of 2018; regularly makes the frame over C&D without putting in maximum effort; a quirky horse.

Ex-Irish (would have a chance based upon her peak form for J.Levins); 0-9 for Linda Perratt in 2018 - mainly at Ayr (5f-7f); dropping down the handicap like a stone; stablemate of Bareed.

Forecasts

Caesar's Comet (6/4), Colour Contrast (6/1), Downtown Diva (6/1), Blue Whisper (6/1), Crazy Tornado (7/1), Be Bold (8/1), Vallarta (8/1), Robben Rainbow (12/1), Bareed (14/1), Quiet Moment (66/1), Tom's Anna (66/1), Palavicini Run (80/1)

Verdict

Another very winnable contest. The 30-race maiden Colour Contrast was a friend of the bookmakers throughout the course of 2018, so it'll take a brave punter to decide that he'll make it 31st-time lucky despite the clear and obvious paucity of viable winning opposition. Be Bold is of definite each-way interest for Rebecca Bastiman, but for win purposes a more realistic alternative is the top-weight CAESAR'S COMET. The Irish-raider has a potent turn of foot, and when fully on song is essentially a fair bit better than this level of opposition.
  1. Caesar's Comet
  2. Colour Contrast
  3. Be Bold
