€750,000 yearling; Kingman filly; half-sister to Derby winner Wings Of Eagles started slowly on debut but much better next when a comfortable winner at Haydock. Likely prove at least Listed class this season and could defy the penalty.

Nathaniel filly who fetched €87,000 as a two-year-old could never seriously get competitive on debut at Newbury earlier this month. Will improve with time but suspect this come too soon.

Nicely bred Frankel filly showed ability when midfield in lone start at Newbury last year (1m). Will need to come on plenty for that but no reason she shouldn't improve.

Champs Elysees filly retained for vendor after only fetching 2,000gns as a yearling. Will need to be very smart to win this first time out.

Filly by Poet's Voice made a pleasing start to her career at Newbury last October when third of 11 over 1m. No reason she won't stay the extra 2f here and with improvement probable she can't be dismissed.

€180,000 yearling by Motivator; 10th foal; half-sister to winners Litigant (10.5f-2m inc AW), Jollify (1m3f/1m4f), Metternich (9.4f AW) and Fairy Duster (French 1m2f/1m5f). Stable in great form, market can guide here.
Sea The Stars filly improved in her second start when a close fifth at Chelmsford but this looks considerably stronger so would be surprised should she make the frame, perhaps one for handicaps next.

Sea The Stars filly who cost 125,000gns as a yearling. Never landed a blow on debut at Kempton in November although showed some ability in midfield. Extra 3f here a big help and stable won this race 12 months ago.

25/1
Cape Cross filly out of a well-bred unraced dam and shaped with plenty of promise following a slow start at Nottingham when third. Fourth next at Kempton of a similar level but may struggle to match that in this deeper contest.

€110,000 vendor yearling by Sea The Stars; 5th foal; sister to winners Raheen House (1m-1m6f inc at 2/Group 3) & Shraaoh (1m2f-2m inc AW/Australia Gr 1). Likable pedigree and from top yard so market check essential.

Horse silk
40/1
Sea The Stars filly cost 200,000gns as a yearling and shaped as if she would greatly appreciate the extra 3f today when sixth of nine over 7f at Kempton in November. Much improvement needed but certain we'll see some.

Forecasts

Sparkle Roll (13/8), King Power (9/4), Sea of Faith (4/1), Nantucket (12/1), Motivate Me (14/1), Scentasia (25/1), Monogamy (25/1), Mystiquestar (33/1), Seeing Red (40/1), Born Leader (50/1), La Lune (66/1)

Verdict

A typical contest of it's type early in the season with all the right names to suggest we will probably see some really useful sorts. The lone winner SPARKLE ROLL will almost certainly have to be useful then but based on what we saw at two she most certainly is. Giving weight away does leave her a little vulnerable so Nantucket, one of a host of once-raced likely improvers and newcomer Sea Of Faith and Motivate Me are expected to make a real race of it.
  1. Sparkle Roll
  2. Nantucket
  3. Sea of Faith
