Course winner at 1m4f in the past who looks to be working his way back to form having taken a step in the right direction over 2m2f here last time. Travelled well for a long way and now back in the headgear combination worn for his last win.
Being kept busy in 2019 (already had seven runs; scoring twice over 2m); shaped well on back on turf last time just failing to get the run of the race. No Fibresand experience though so has that to overcome; player if taking the surface.
Winner of a minor event over 1m3f here last year he then scored off a 3lb higher mark in a Newcastle (1m2f) handicap. Form since then has been rather in-and-out including on his recent return (looked quirky) at Kempton; underwhelming since his win.
Winner of a pair of 2m2f staying handicaps at Pontefract last October off lower marks he's not been seen on the Flat since. Well held over hurdles last two starts he returns from a fair absence to make his Fibresand debut; no great record fresh.
The winter/spring period has been a lucrative one with three wins to her name and comes here on a hat-trick. Course winner over 1m4f she followed up on turf over 2f further; ought to be able to cope with this mark but yet to try this trip.
Debut winner for Hugo Palmer (only run in 2017); showed some useful handicap form (without winning) last year. Below form all four starts this year for his current handler including on Fibresand (1m3f) debut last time; new headgear now given a whirl.
Twice a winner on Fibresand in the past at up to 1m6f for a former yard he still looks to be putting things together for this yard. Run exclusively here of late little going his way last time (better than final position); falling in the weights.
Fairly useful stayer on the Flat in Ireland before winning second time out for this yard over hurdles. Well handicapped back on the Flat but does have to overcome the fact that he's never run on the surface (by a sire with a poor record here).
Three-time course winner his two handicap wins coming off a higher mark; fared poorly when last seen here in a 2m selling handicap. Shaped in a much better fashion over hurdles last time; remains to be seen if he can repeat back on the Flat.
Forecasts
Nelson Road (11/10), Champarisi (3/1), Rashdan (9/2), High Command (9/1), Navajo Star (14/1), Gang Warfare (20/1), Bodacious Name (25/1), Tenedos (50/1), Deep Resolve (66/1)
A complex little puzzle for backers to solve with the well handicapped Nelson Road for a very shrewd yard lurking in the weights having won over hurdles last time but with no experience on the surface and with his sire having a poor record here. Navajo Star wouldn’t be as well handicapped but also comes here in good form but again is another with no track experience. CHAMPARISI has proved she acts on the track the question is now will she stay this 2m trip off a career-high mark; she looks to have the progress left in her to do so. Gang Warfare and High Command both have claims on their recent form here in what looks a competitive heat.
- Champarisi
- Navajo Star
- Nelson Road
