Made all to score in decent style at Ludlow last time and carries his winner's penalty for trainer-jockey combination that remain in tremendous form. Sure to give another good account of himself.
Scored in good fashion at Wincanton in February but ran a shocker last time at Southwell when well beaten. Remains the clear pick on BHA figures and is much respected, but consistency is the concern.
Hinted at some ability earlier this year in three bumpers but excelled himself with winning hurdles debut at Wincanton earlier this month when popping up at 33/1. Interesting to see if he can build on that promising start over timber.
Modest Flat handicap hurdle at up to extended 1m3f and hasn't been seen for a year since finishing tailed off at Windsor. Will do well to figure after such a lay-of on hurdles bow.
Stable companion of Monsieur D'Arque and appears second string. 1-14 on Flat for Sylvester Kirk, only success coming last September in extended 1m5f h'cap at Chelmsford. Bought £8,500 subsequently and never figured on sole hurdles start.
Scored over almost 1m4f at Lingfield in July for George Baker. Joined current yard in December and has shown little in two hurdles so far. Much more needed.
German-bred gelding who looks nothing special on evidence of four runs so far and was tailed off at Hereford last month having pulled up time before. Wears first time tongue-tie.
Won twice on the Flat over 7f for Richard Fahey and has been knocking on the door of late in minor handicap hurdles for current yard, going very close on pemultimate start at Taunton. Gets plenty of weight but needs to raise her game to score.
Forecasts
Monsieur D'Arque (2/5), River Bray (3/1), Jacamar (6/1), Powerful Society (8/1), Purple Jazz (33/1), Lyford (40/1), Zulu (80/1), Zambino (100/1)
MONSIEUR D'ARQUE may prove a safer choice than River Bray who let himself down badly last time but still comes out top on official figures. The selection made all to win at Ludlow recenlty and a similar effort for his in-form yard may well be good enough. If River Bray can bounce back from his disappointing Southwell display he would be a massive danger. Jacamar sprang a surprise win on his hurdling bow and further improvement cannot be ruled out, while the filly Powerful Society looks best of the rest on recent evidence.
- Monsieur D'Arque
- Jacamar
- River Bray
