A one-time Aidan O'Brien inmate whose career has been put on hold on several occasions. However, he's still got the ability to figure at this level and arrives here in good hear. Worth considering despite carrying top weight.
Ended a long losing run when scoring over C&D last time out; raced with the pace and showed a willing attitude to hold on near the finish. Just 2lb higher and likely to go well again. Shortlisted.
4-19 on turf but never seen on an artificial surface before now; yard yet to really fire on all cylinders but does well with sprinters. On a handy mark if the gelding adapts to the track.
Won on the AW at Lingfield last March but form took a dive on turf last season. Form at this track leaves a bit to be desired. Others more appealing.
Behind Sir Ottoman here latest but 2lb better off and has a feasible chance of reversing the form. Has to enter the calculations despite a lack of consistency of late.
Several good efforts at Wolverhampton lately but winning has been just out of reach. Dropped 3lb after finishing second in a seller last time but still has a bit to prove. Worth another try at this trip though.
Last win came from just a 1lb higher mark but the gelding has lost his way since then. Has gone well over C&D before and the rider takes a further 7lb off with his claim but needs a lot to go his way.
0-19 on the AW and form has dipped to a modest standard since the turn of the year. Found only the one pace near the finish at Wolverhampton last week and the filly makes limited appeal on that run.
Not finished in front of many rivals in his last handful of starts and looks to have lost his way at present; 10lb below his only previous winning mark but a leap of faith is required for him to bounce back.
Form hit the floor last season and the gelding failed to beat a single horse in each of his last two starts. Freshened up by a break since September but the gelding has a lot to prove just now.
Hasn't won for over three years and finds himself on a career lowest mark (and out of the handicap here). Very hard to recommend on recent form.
Forecasts
Sir Ottoman (9/4), Secret Potion (7/2), Mount Wellington (13/2), Our Man In Havana (7/1), Pastfact (9/1), Secondo (10/1), Red Tycoon (16/1), Mother of Dragons (16/1), Just An Idea (33/1), Jonnysimpson (40/1), Noble Deed (50/1)
SECRET POTION can turn the tables on Sir Ottoman if he's given the office to attack a little sooner than he did over C&D last week and just edges the nomination as a value bet in the finale. Secondo might have more to offer back at 6f and is another who merits respect, while Mount Wellington has some sound form to his name and would be dangerous to rule out too quickly. Pastfact is suggested as the best of the rest.
- Secret Potion
- Sir Ottoman
- Secondo
