450,000gns yearling who has progressed with racing; off the mark at the fourth time of asking when readily scoring over this trip at Newcastle last month. Goes handicapping back on turf and more to come.

Off the mark in 1m Chelmsford novice in October, having been second on first two outings. Returns from a break with potential for better things to come now going handicapping.

Promise in novice races well and truly confirmed when he thumped the field on handicap debut last season at Beverley. This will possibly be much warmer and 8lb rise for that success leaves him looking vulnerable.

Improved from debut to win at Doncaster, with the front two pulling 6L clear of their rivals, in June. Failed to progress subsequently but still early days and up in trip on return.

Built on earlier promise without having to improve when making all to land a 1m2f novice at Lingfield in January. Narrowly denied in Chelmsford handicap since, an improved effort, clear chance if replicating that form on turf.

Archipenko colt who fetched 65,000 gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to four winners from 7f to 1m6f. Possible there is more to come now handicapping and positive jockey booking on return.

Winner of a handicap at Carlisle last summer over 7f (good to soft) and rather shaping as though step up in trip needed afterwards. Worth market check on seasonal bow now getting this new trip.

Nine-race maiden, showed promise on more than one occasion last season. Readily forgiven final start on soft going at Newmarket and could be more to come off a fair mark.

Has some fair form in the book last season but not as good in recent times on the AW. Likely needs a career-best back on turf if hoping for success.

Forecasts

Sameem (3/1), Forest Of Dean (3/1), Red October (3/1), Harvey Dent (9/2), War Tiger (9/2), Artistic Language (11/1), Simon's Smile (20/1), Flint Hill (25/1), One To Go (25/1), Must See The Doc (40/1), Curfewed (66/1)

Verdict

A wide-open contest with three last-time-out winners in the field. Forest Of Dean and Red October both dip their toes into handicaps for the first time, with the former preferred on account of race fitness. Sameem blitzed his rivals to win at Beverley on handicap bow in September and remains in the mix despite being 8lb higher on his return. A chance is taken that this longer trip will unlock a bit more in Carlisle nursery winner FLINT HILL, with the Michael Dods team already amongst the winners this term.
