Dual winner in 2017 for Bryan Smart (both on good to firm ground). Failed to score last season but ran best race on reappearance and potentially on a decent mark stating out for Phillip Makin.

Filly was a maiden winner in France back in 2017 but has had an interrupted career since. Back from latest layoff and tough to make a case for on form.

3-13 on turf, with all wins over 1m on good to form going. Race-fit having scored on the AW at Newcastle over this trip in February off a 3lb lower mark; should be in the mix.

Won twice over similar trips last summer on good/fast ground. Form tailed off towards the end of the campaign but only 3lb above previous winning mark and worth a check on return.

Only three runs when trained by Dermot Weld in Ireland, landing a maiden at Sligo before finishing second in the Ulster Derby (1m4f, good to firm) at Down Royal in June last year. Not threatened in two starts for this yard, down in trip.

Easy winner over 7f here in September (good to firm) but hasn't looked like adding to tally since and returns from a break still rated 5lb above the winning mark.

Last spotted producing a career-best to win over C&D in October (good to firm), just holding on at the line. 3lb higher back from a break, but is now 2-3 at this track and needs considering.

Found obvious improvement when racing beyond 1m for the first time at Ripon in August, scoring in first-time cheekpieces (1m2f, good). Ran well in Newcastle AW contest recently and fit for this as a result.

Racked up a hat-trick of wins last summer over this trip and further, handling all ground. Ended the season with a string of lesser efforts and may needs this run. High enough in the ratings for now.

C&D win came back in 2016, not badly treated here based on AW form in four starts since the turn of the year, including a win at Kempton over this trip. Could go well.

Lightly-raced sort, won a Southwell maiden on the AW over this trip last year and soft-ground Ripon effort last April suggested he could compete for this mark. Must prove himself on this faster turf surface. Remains with potential.

Holy Roman Emperor gelding twice won over extended-mile at Hamilton last year. Was out of sorts towards the end of last term but has been competitive all three previous course starts, albeit on slower going than is forecast. Not ruled out.

Superb performer on the AW, with strike rate in excess of 28% from 21 starts. Yet to show same potential on turf and well beaten on sole previous try over this C&D. Hasn't been out of the first two in seven starts lately on artificial surfaces.

Age: 7|  Weight: 8-7| J: Phil Dennis| T: J S Goldie| OR:  70| D

Just 1-33 on turf, tends to run best races at Ayr and was well held one run over this C&D in 2017. Racing from 15lb lower in the ratings now. Can't be discounted on a going day and handles any ground.

Forecasts

International Man (9/2), Helovaplan (5/1), Rey Loopy (7/1), Give It Some Teddy (8/1), Sheberghan (8/1), Vive La Difference (9/1), Fuwairt (10/1), Windsor Cross (11/1), Alfa McGuire (12/1), Kripke (20/1), Strong Steps (25/1), Royal Shaheen (25/1), Brother McGonagall (28/1), Tadaawol (33/1), Intense Pleasure (33/1), Crown Vallary (40/1)

Verdict

INTERNATIONAL MAN scored at York in July off this mark and ran well enough thereafter in good handicaps to ensure he's of interest. He also goes well fresh, so this appeals as a good time to catch him with Connor Murtagh taking off a handy 5lb. Stablemate Windsor Cross is also on the shortlist back over a mile while Give It Some Teddy tends to run this track well and is joined on the shortlist by Helovaplan and Sheberghan, the last-named perhaps ready to improve down in distance with a positive jockey booking.
  1. International Man
  2. Windsor Cross
  3. Give It Some Teddy
