A maiden under both codes and reverts to the Flat after inauspicious efforts over fences for her current yard. Another who makes limited appeal on the evidence of recent form.

Form was regressive for his previous yard and hard to know what to expect from the gelding as he makes his first start since October 2017; probably safe to leave out of the betting plans this time.

Was a ready winner from a 4lb lower mark at Kempton in January but been below that standard twice since. Never raced here before and comes into this with a bit to prove now.

Has won over 7f before now and is on a handy mark for the return to this trip. Jockey booking suggests his yard are keen to give the gelding every assistance to get back to winning way. Worth considering in a weak event like this.

Dangerously well handicapped or on the downgrade is the conundrum? Recent form suggests its the latter and the gelding is another that is probably best left to his own devices.

Sole win in Ireland came over this trip at Dundalk, so the drop back to 7f shouldn't be a problem for the mare, who ran well on debut for her current yard at Newcastle last month. Sound claims in this company if she ups her game a touch.

Sprung a surprise when second over C&D on his penultimate start (at odd of 40/1) but was back to business as usual last time out. Won from this mark on turf but is hard to predict and looks a risky option.

Placed (just behind Percy Toplis) here in February and recently extended her maiden status to 0-43; very hard to recommend from out of the weights.

Three of the gelding's 9 career wins have been registered at this course - including one over C&D - and recent efforts encouraging enough to say he can play a part here. Goes well for today's rider and is worth bearing mind for a place at least.

Ran well over 6f here last week (Malaysian Boleh didn't get a clear run but finished close up behind) and respected on that effort; which was her best on the AW to date. Lacks consistency though and may find this tougher.

Forecasts

La Cumparsita (2/1), Clement (11/4), Swiss Cross (5/1), My Girl Maisie (7/1), Cool Echo (10/1), Malaysian Boleh (11/1), Percy Toplis (14/1), The Third Man (14/1), Caledonian Gold (20/1), Lovely Acclamation (33/1), Dream On Dreamer (50/1)

Verdict

Very much the weaker of the two divisions and a far from confident nomination goes the way of LA CUMPARSITA, who ran well over a mile on her debut for her new yard at Newcastle last time out but will find this drop back in trip more to her liking. Swiss Cross will get every assistance from the saddle and can also be a prominent player here; as can Malaysian Boleh if she can avoid trouble in running this time.
  1. La Cumparsita
  2. Swiss Cross
  3. Malaysian Boleh
