Modest maiden who returns from an absence to make his AW/Fibresand debut. Ran well enough when last seen (first-time visor, retained) in his second try over 6f; pedigree doesn't shout that he will act on this surface.
Has left a positive impression on both his starts for this yard over 6f on Tapeta; shaped as if better for the run first time, better than finishing position last time. Left the impression he's on a decent mark; could do with more of a stamina test.
Expensive breeze-up purchase (£160,000) who has failed to live up to that price tag even after being gelded and tried in handicaps. Now tried on a different surface and back to 6f; jury still out on his chance, ran poorly last time.
Winner of two of his first three starts in handicap company (both wins coming over 6f at Wolverhampton); best when prominently ridden. Now makes his Fibresand debut (pedigree gives some positives); does need to progress to defy this mark though.
One of two C&D winners in the field both of his wins have come over this trip on Fibresand (unsuited by his one try over 5f here). Fared poorly on Tapeta last time returned to 6f, needs this return to Fibresand to reignite his form.
Only one reasonable effort to his name having been exclusively raced on turf as a juvenile at sprint trips. Now makes his Fibresand debut off the back of a long absence; pedigree fails to offer much encouragement of acting on this surface.
Question marks about how effective she will be over this 6f (Fibresand debut) having shown her best form (such as it is) over 7f. Ran poorly the last twice she was seen; outpaced and never dangerous when last seen over 6f at Redcar.
Found the drop in grade to 0-55 company the catalyst for his C&D win last December; has run some indifferent races on this surface since over a variety of trips. Landed a second career win in a Lingfield match last time over 6f, back at his best C&D.
Handicap/Fibresand debut having shown very little in three starts in minor company so far at 7f plus. Now drops to 6f for the first time with hopes that this surface (should suit) and handicaps can eke out some progress.
Forecasts
Geography Teacher (5/2), Awa Bomba (4/1), Deconso (5/1), Champagne Mondays (6/1), The Big House (9/1), Tizwotitiz (10/1), Biscuit Queen (12/1), Budaiya Fort (16/1), Showshutai (20/1)
Most of these will be taking a trip into the unknown here having not run on this surface before although both Geography Teacher and Champagne Mondays have won over C&D before the former on two occasions and he’ll be happier back on this surface. AWA BOMBA is one of those for whom Fibresand will be a new experience but he’s left a positive impression of late and he along with Deconso look as though they are worth siding with if they handle this unique surface.
- Awa Bomba
