Upwardly-mobile colt who is 5-5 on AW surfaces. Justified favouritism in a quite valuable handicap at Wolverhampton following a break and is ready for this step up to Listed company.

Narrow winner from Big Country in a Listed contest at Lingfield in November, but was only sixth of seven behind the very smart Wissahickon at the same venue in the Winter Derby. Behind Big Country there which suggests he was not at his best.

Closely matched with Master The World and has had a rear view of Wissahickon on his last three starts. Nothing of that one's class in this race and he is entitled to be thereabouts.

Progressive last year and showed he could handle this surface when scoring at the track in August. Found wanting when upped in class on his final start, but that was on soft going which probably found him out. Wears a hood for seasonal reappearance.

10/1
Decisive winner of this race last year, but that was a weaker renewal than this. Landed a Group 3 contest at Windsor in August before running well on his final start at Longchamp. Can go well fresh and is much respected.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: J Fanning| T: C & M Johnston| OR:  112| CD
5/6
Winner of his last five starts, all of them on the AW. Recorded a personal best when bolting up in a valuable C&D handicap last time and deserves this crack at something better. Progressing at a rate of knots and a danger to all.

Decent performer who does not win quite as often as his talent suggests he should. Third of six when last seen in action in a Listed contest at Newmarket in November and is 0-3 on the AW.

Behind Matterhorn at Southwell in December and that rival has continued to progress since then. Usually run his race, but looks to face a stiff task against this class of opposition.

Fair record of 3-7 on the AW and beat Master The World over 1m2f at Lingfield a year ago. Not at his best at Wolverhampton last time and needs to show more if he is to figure.

Forecasts

Matterhorn (5/6), Mootasadir (4/1), Big Country (8/1), Fabricate (10/1), Victory Bond (14/1), Extra Elusive (20/1), Master The World (25/1), Time Change (25/1), Robin Of Navan (33/1), Three Weeks (100/1)

Verdict

The progressive Mootasadir has to concede weight all round, but is respected along with last year's winner Fabricate, Master The World and Big Country, each of whom boast excellent AW form. However, they face a rapidly-improving colt in MATTERHORN, who has won his last five races and bolted up in a decent contest over C&D last time. Extra Elusive has looked a talented colt at times and is is not ruled out.
