Can race keenly - over enthusiastic when he ran out latest - but possible the cheekpieces will help burn off the fizz. Goes well here and has a solid chance at course which favours front runners. 5lb higher than his win at Doncaster in January.

A decent staying handicapper on the flat (rated 87 at his best) and has adapted well to hurdling. Had wind surgery since posting a respectable effort in a Listed race at Haydock in November. Worth considering but the market will be helpful.

Didn't show much in a couple of bumpers and was pulled up on his hurdling debut at Hexham earlier this month. Yard always to be respected here but this fellow has plenty to prove.

Seemed to be getting better with experience in point-to-points but has plenty to prove on his hurdling/rules debut. Others look more convincing.
Showed promise in his first couple of outings over timber last year and possible he needed the run when he finished down the field at Lingfield last month. Still learning but needs to up his game a touch. A longer trip might help before long.

Won from a mark of 85 on Flat (1m4f, good to firm, at Brighton) so has to be of interest now switching codes. Debuts for a new yard and remains to be seen how he'll cope with jumping obstacles. Worth a betting check all the same.

Made no impact in a bumper on debut but improved for the switch to hurdles last time. Needs to find more but is in the right hands to make further progress. Might still need more time though.

Well beaten in all starts in mares only races so far and looks one to be wary of in taking on the boys for the first time. Travels a long way for this but the yard has had a few below par performers mixed in amongst the recent winners.

A maiden under both codes and needs to up her game considerably from her two previous efforts over hurdles. Hard to recommend at present.

Forecasts

Denmead (4/5), Constancio (5/2), Topofthecotswolds (6/1), Lady Marwah (13/2), Wapping (20/1), Crimson Skies (50/1), Plan Of Escape (66/1), Fourth Of July (66/1), Forest Fusion (100/1)

Verdict

The fitting of cheekpieces may be a good move with CONSTANICO, who raced far too keenly when he ran out at Musselburgh last time; he is better judged on previous dominant performances he posted when racing from the front. The headgear can help him settle in to a rhythm a little quicker this time around. Denmead can make this a good test for the selection and will appreciate this drop in class; he looks a worthy alternative but makes his first start after wind surgery, so a betting check is advised beforehand. Wapping and Topofthecotwolds make the most appeal from the remainder.
  1. Constancio
  2. Denmead
  3. Wapping
