Rock-solid C&D performer (1,2,2,1,2); beaten a neck by the re-opposing Rey Loopy in January and now 2lb better off with that rival. Hard to envisage anything other than a bold bid.
C&D winner here last August not beaten far in any of three subsequent starts, finishing fourth in each of them. Returns after six-month break now so might just need the run and handicapper has a close grip.
Seven-time winner although not on Tapeta. Remained in good form this winter with Kempton win in February and another good effort latest when second at Chelmsford. Handicap demands maximum from him and less appealing on this surface.
Last six runs (all here) yielded two wins and four seconds. Short-head defeat over C&d latest another excellent effort and sure to make another bold bid.
Bought by these connections for 19,000gns in October and immediately began repaying the fee with taking victory here in novice company last November. First handicap here a warm one but unexposed profile is appealing.
14-time career scorer including twice here over C&D. Well held of late however as advertised by latest 10th of 12 so makes little appeal here.
1m Pontefract winner last May ran well at the same venue in last two starts of 2018 with sound seconds in each. First run since July so fitness the major doubt but mark is within range if he's ready.
Six-time winner here but not made the frame for quite some time now and recent efforts suggest he may be slowing down. Handicapper is on his side at present but others make greater appeal.
Forecasts
Rey Loopy (5/2), Thaayer (3/1), Trevithick (4/1), Samphire Coast (5/1), Lawmaking (7/1), Testa Rossa (20/1), Alexandrakollontai (28/1), Trinity Star (33/1)
Two ultra-consistent course specialists in TREVITHICK and Rey Loopy both make plenty of appeal with the former 2lb better off for the neck he was beaten by the latter when they last clashed, that is enough to put him narrowly ahead this time. Unexposed Thaayer adds intrigue to the contest and he is a legitimate danger on handicap debut.
- Trevithick
- Rey Loopy
- Thaayer
