Had been knocking on the door here all winter until finally landing a 13-runner handicap deservedly last week. Runs here under a 6lb penalty which may stretch him but consistent profile suggests he will again give a solid showing.

Up 4lb for first AW win which came over C&D exactly a year ago to the day. Not sure why he has been off so long but must presume there have been issues so probably best watched now.

Eight-race maiden not beaten too far here over 7f on stable debut but basically tailed off latest at Wolverhampton when last of 12. Down in class here but hard to be confident.

Slowly away (as has become the norm) on stable debut at Southwell (1m) in December; off since so presumably more work has been undertaken with the stalls at home; well-treated if able to break on terms.

C&D winner here two starts back subsequently beaten 1¾L into second by Elixsoft over same combination. 5lb better off with that rival so every chance he turns the tables and looks a leading contender.

Seven-time winner for Richard Fahey struggles in three starts for this yard to date although all come at a higher level than this. Much more like it now down from class 4 and could see a considerably better effort.

Almost two years since latest win but running reasonably well since turn of the year with a second, fifth and fourth all at Wolverhampton. Again has place possibilities here but draw far from ideal.

Won here last February but six starts for this yard with little distinction, unplaced in each. Best form would give him a chance but few signs of that recently.

Won four times on Tapeta (all at Wolverhampton) but well held here on return after a 104 day break (11L sixth of 14). This more realistic however so should fare better, draw not ideal.

Low mileage maiden has shown some promise whilst also looking in need of some help from the handicapper. Disappointing latest at Wolverhampton when last of 12 but that after a break and now should strip fitter so hoping for more.

Decent 2L fourth in a C&D handicap in December. Below that form in next two but improved effort latest when again second at Wolverhampton. That form puts her firmly in the mix here so if arriving in same vein of form must be respected.

Winner at Wolverhampton in December mostly running pretty well since although disappointing as favourite latest at same venue. Slow start latest can excuse to some intent and well capable if back on song here.

Starts out life with third trainer to date and remains a maiden. Still relatively lightly raced but big step forward needed although this yard usually of plenty of respect on AW.

Two-year-old winner here (7f) for Mark Johnston showed little last season for Colin Teague in light campaign. Changed yard again and arrives here after 10-months off so probably best watched.

Forecasts

Insurplus (7/2), Elixsoft (7/2), Dreamofdiscovery (9/2), Roman De Brut (11/2), Jetstream (11/1), Seek The Moon (12/1), Corked (16/1), Celtic Artisan (16/1), Mossy's Lodge (20/1), Sulafaat (20/1), Gabrial's Kaka (33/1), Midnight Vixen (40/1), Spirit Of Sarwan (40/1), Hippeia (50/1)

Verdict

INSURPLUS arrives in good order after a C&D win followed by a second to Elixsoft latest over the same. He is 5lb better off with that rival now so surely has a very good chance of reversal and gets the vote in a tricky enough handicap. The other mentioned runner is similarly highly consistent in such contests so far from ruled out despite the 6lb penalty. Corked isn't always the most reliable but she ran well latest and a repeat of that would see her go close again.
  1. Insurplus
  2. Elixsoft
  3. Corked
