Dual C&D winner although the losing run is starting to get to worrying proportions now. Ended the turf season on a low (not seen since then); this run likely to be to sharpen him up for a return to turf.
Building a good record on this surface and looks very at home in this 0-60 grade only going down narrowly to Gorgeous General (winner since) over C&D last time. Weighted to take her revenge this time around as she clashes again with her old rival.
Twice a course winner (once over C&D) he's looked well below-par of late and hasn't beaten a horse home in his last two starts. Now steps back up to 6f (last seven runs over 5f) but needs to find some zip to make any appeal.
Really at home here on this surface having already won on it three times (once over C&D) although he did underperform last time over 5f. May have just found a busy spell catching up with him; work to do to confirm form with Liamba.
Stable does well here but this one so far hasn't looked as though he has taken to this surface so far (0-3). Looks to be just going through the motions at the moment; produced a very laboured effort last time.
Blinkers are on for her Fibresand debut (sire has had some success from a limited amount of runners). Went backwards from her reappearance run and others make more appeal.
Stepped forward in a major way when scoring in a lowly handicap (0-55; 7f) here in December (barely beaten a horse prior to that win). Failed to run to anything like that level here last time out, now drops to 6f, limited appeal.
Yet to make the frame on the Fibresand although she should strip fitter for her return run over 5f here last time out after five months off. Is a three-time winner over this trip (none on the AW); could run into a place in a weak contest.
Certainly knows his way around here (five-time course winner; four over C&D); well weighted now on his old form but looks to need firmer handling. Took a step back in the right direction last time but needs others to run below-par.
Not the most reliable/straightforward of individuals; 0-4 on Fibresand. Bounced back to his best on his penultimate start taking a 6f 0-50 handicap but rather predictably failed to back that up; often runs very freely.
C&D winner but has rarely if ever shown that level of form since that win around this time last year. Well below that last winning mark but hard to believe he can run to that mark now.
Still a maiden after 24 Flat runs and very hard to trust given his overall record. May have looked a little unlucky last time but not one to be making excuses for in the long run.
Has on occasions run well enough on this surface but a career record of 2-67 hardly inspires confidence and he is 0-7 here. Form is inconsistent although he may be suited by this return to 6f and a refitted visor.
Little impact so far in varied events at trips up to 1m4f; shown very little so far on two runs for this yard. Now makes her Fibresand debut but with limited hopes based on what we have seen so far.
Forecasts
Liamba (5/2), Gorgeous General (9/2), Meshardal (13/2), Alba Del Sole (8/1), Alligator (9/1), Socialites Red (10/1), Elliot The Dragon (16/1), Rizzle Dizzle (16/1), Dream Ally (25/1), Fortinbrass (25/1), Astrojewel (25/1), Jacob's Pillow (33/1), Blistering Dancer (33/1), Whisper A Word (100/1)
A big field but not much strength in depth with most of these hard to construct a case for given their recent form. The key clash was the one between LIAMBA and Gorgeous General with the latter coming out on top on that occasion but it’s the former who is weighted to gain control and take revenge this time around. Those two stand head and shoulders above the rest of this field and it will be down to the likes of Socialites Red, Fortinbrass and Blistering Dancer who will contest the minor place.
- Liamba
- Gorgeous General
- Socialites Red
