Was beaten 2¼L by top-class miler Lord Glitters in a French AW contest two years ago. However, he remains winless since 2016 and both his victories have been gained over further. Contesting first Class 5 handicap.
Rated 104 in his prime and currently on a 22-race losing streak. Yet to win at this trip and suspicion that his mark has a little further to fall.
Has a 4-11 record here that includes the final leg of a hat-trick a year ago off 1lb lower. Will be all the better for his recent comeback run but he may be better at a mile nowadays.
Has run well on both previous C&D starts. However a 2-42 record, with the last of those victories coming 33 months ago, tempers enthusiasm.
Sole win came on turf when making all in a Catterick maiden but he shown he handles Tapeta. Too keen last time but no surprise should positive tactics be utilised to exploit a plum draw.
Flopped on only previous start at this trip but shaping lately as though it is worth another try. Rider 4-21 for the yard.
Scored over 6f here last time and was beaten a short-head on his only previous visit. On the downside he is yet to make the frame in three runs over this trip.
Has proved a revelation since arriving from Ireland in winning all four starts including two under this rider. Up 14lb since last time but that does not look insurmountable taking capable rider's claim into account.
Had a hot spell at Pontefract last summer, but AW form is not so good and he has not shown enough in three runs this year.
Gained a hard fought first AW success over C&D and a 2lb rise looks realistic. In a more competitive race this time and others preferred.
Triple C&D winner has barely beaten a rival in his last three starts and porbably best watched until promising more.
Dual Tapeta winner over this trip when with Mark Johnston. Below-par in both starts for current yard with latest effort particularly poor.
Forecasts
Lion Hearted (10/11), Lefortovo (6/1), Kadrizzi (8/1), Saisons D'Or (10/1), The Establishment (10/1), Gabrial The Tiger (14/1), Mutabaahy (16/1), Shepherd's Purse (20/1), Fire Diamond (25/1), The British Lion (25/1), Arlecchino's Leap (50/1), Highly Sprung (100/1)
It is hard to look beyond LION HEARTED given his current lack of respect for the handicapper and he may laugh off a 14lb rise given the amount he has had in hand on his last two starts. That hike is less dramatic bearing in mind his rider, who has won twice on him, is able to claim a 7lb allowance. Mutabaahy and Saisons D'Or look the prime dangers given that The Establishment needs to prove he stays this far.
- Lion Hearted
- Mutabaahy
- Saisons D'Or
