1
Horse silk
Compadre45
Age: 8|  Weight: 12-1| J: Benjamin Poste| T: H J Evans| OR:  102| C
9/2
Back to best on third run for this yard when scoring over fences at Market Rasen. The three market leaders failed to complete and he now reverts to hurdling where he looks a lot better handicapped.
2
Horse silk
Stonemadforspeedp12
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-12| J: Harry Teal(5)| T: R A Teal| OR:  99
8/1
Back to winning ways in a modest seller last month. Faces a stiffer test in this grade off 4lb higher and having never won beyond 2m5f.
3
Horse silk
Chain Smoker47
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: J E Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR:  91
10/3
Poor point-to-pointer who has shown nothing under rules. May have more to offer now handicapping over a longer trip, but little to recommend him unless there is a significant market move.
4
Horse silk
Auenwirbel47
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-3| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: Mrs L J Young| OR:  90
8/1
Back to his best last time and 3lb higher for it. Nevertheless he arrives in better shape than most for a particularly poor event.
5
Horse silk
Generous Helpings56
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-2| J: N F Houlihan(10)| T: G & J Moore| OR:  89| CD
17/2
Has lost his way badly and although handicap mark dropping markedly, hard to make a case for at present.
6
Horse silk
Save The Pennies27
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-1| J: T J O'Brien| T: J G Cann| OR:  88
11/2
Runner-up in a point-to-point to a horse currently rated 90. Today's mark gives her a first chance to compete over hurdles having been out of her depth in novice company.
7
Horse silk
American Lifet,v58
Age: 12|  Weight: 11-1| J: Kevin Jones(3)| T: M F Harris| OR:  88
12/1
Set to make his 100th appearance under rules and bids for career win number ten. However, the losing streak goes back to April 2016 and its hard to envisage him improving after his inauspicious first start for his new yard last month.
8
Horse silk
Sweet'n'chic279
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-0| J: R Patrick(3)| T: R Rowe| OR:  87| CD
16/1
Off the mark at the 17th attempt over 3m1f here last May. Only won by a nose but 8lb higher now and with an absence to overcome.
9
Horse silk
Patience Tonyp,t10
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-12| J: Mr Aiden Blakemore(7)| T: L Egerton| OR:  85
33/1
Has been let down by his jumping lately but has claims on his Musselburgh second in December when ridden more patiently.
10
Horse silk
My Turgeonp9
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-9| J: N de Boinville| T: B Pauling| OR:  82
14/1
Beaten along way on all four hurdles starts. Amateur ridden last time on handicap debut and stronger handling employed now dropped a further 5lb. Lightly raced and worth a market check.
11
Horse silk
Sweet Marmalade47
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-1| J: Ross Chapman| T: L A Mullaney| OR:  84
66/1
Has not jumped well on her last two starts but her Flat form gives her every chance off this mark should she improve that aspect. Worth a look in the market.
12
Horse silk
Due Southp158
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-0| J: Brendan Powell| T: Mrs L C Jewell| OR:  65
33/1
Cheekpieces now tried for the first-time as he makes his handicap debut from 8lb out of the handicap. Yet to show any ability and he looks one of the more unlikely winners.

Forecasts

Chain Smoker (10/3), Compadre (9/2), Save The Pennies (11/2), Auenwirbel (8/1), Stonemadforspeed (8/1), Generous Helpings (17/2), American Life (12/1), My Turgeon (14/1), Sweet'n'chic (16/1), Due South (33/1), Patience Tony (33/1), Sweet Marmalade (66/1)

Verdict

Few of these can be recommended on current form although Stonemadforspeed took advantage of a drop into selling company to score last time and Compadre landed a chase which fell apart. Save The Pennies and Sweet Marmalade could show marked improvement now handicapping, as could My Turgeon having slipped to a mark of 82. Patience Tony needs to rebound from two bad runs and as a result AUENWIRBEL may be strong enough to build on an improved effort last time having raced wide in search of better ground and just finding one too good.
  1. Auenwirbel
  2. Stonemadforspeed
  3. Sweet Marmalade
