Taken well to the AW (3-4) and arrives seeking a hat-trick following a couple of 7f Lingfield victories; 5lb higher than when beating Areen Heart by 1L almost six-weeks ago; Newcastle debut.
50% strike-rate on the AW (4-8); beat Salateen by a nose over this trip at Lingfield on his penultimate start but could prove vulnerable over this stiff 7f having done the vast majority of his racing over a shorter trip.
Fast-improving; made light of the step up in grade when keeping on strongly to justify favouritism over C&D last month (beat Straight Right by 1½L); 5lb higher but every chance he can notch the four-timer with his previous form appearing rock-solid.
Left William Knight for 21,000gns in July 2018 and his current handler has adopted a patient approach; twice placed on the AW in 1m Class 3 handicaps of late; interesting to see what he's capable of over 7f (has always run over 1m+ previously).
£26,000 purchase who made a winning AW debut over C&D in December (beat Boy In The Bar by a head); not suited by dropping back in trip at Wolverhampton since when finishing a close-up third to a stablemate of Pinnata; chance.
Struggling from halfway when finishing a well beaten seventh of eight to Pinnata over C&D four weeks ago; possible that run will have done him the world of good (off since mid-October) but difficult to see him reversing those placings nevertheless.
Stablemate of Gallipoli; a three-time winner on turf (7f-7½f) and versatile in terms of underfoot conditions; started 28/1 when finishing fifth of eight (beaten 3L) to Pinnata on AW debut over C&D latest.
Pleasing AW strike-rate (6-23) - boosted by a pair of emphatic wins at Kempton (6f-7f) in the final months of 2018; runner-up (Sanaadh third) off this mark at Wolverhampton (6f) latest and is likely to make his usual frantic bid for the glory.
Fibresand specialist; turned his hand to Tapeta when winning a Class 4 handicap over C&D late last month (beat Portledge by ½L); 3lb higher in a much more competitive race and could struggle accordingly.
Forecasts
Keyser Soze (13/8), Pinnata (3/1), Breathless Times (15/2), Sanaadh (10/1), Ballard Down (11/1), Gallipoli (12/1), Custard The Dragon (25/1), Starlight Romance (33/1), Exchequer (33/1)
December C&D winner Sanaadh should make his presence felt now returned to a more suitable trip having finished a staying on third to Shamson at Wolverhampton (6f) last month and is strongly fancied to reverse placings with the trail-blazing Exchequer. However, such is the overall progressive nature (and depth to his form) of the Stuart Williams-trained PINNATA, the selection somewhat picks itself. 5lb higher than when making light of the step up in grade over C&D latest, the prospect of a four-timer looks to be very much on the cards.
- Pinnata
- Sanaadh
- Ballard Down
