Promising 10L second over an extended 2m5f at Exeter (heavy) last month on return from wind surgery. Failed to build on that in two subsequent starts however and blinkers tried for the first time having pulled up last time out.
Winner of a handicap hurdle on good ground at Worcester (2m4f) in September 2017. Lightly raced since but ran well for a long way on debut for this yard earlier this month following over 12 months off the track.
Placed on his last two starts including over an extended 2m3f at Lingfield (good-to-soft) on handicap debut earlier this month. Step up in distance looks likely to suit and is an interesting runner in this contest.
Failed to finish on each of his last three starts most recently when pulled up at Ffos Las (2m4f, heavy) last month following a break. Probably best watched at present.
Victorious over an extended 2m3f at Bangor (good) in April 2017. Had just two starts since and returning from well over a year off the track when 40L 12th at Uttoxeter (2m4f, good-to-soft) in October. Cheekpieces tried for the first time.
Signs of ability in three runs in bumpers but has struggled since switching to hurdles last month. Market support would be notable stepping up in distance on handicap debut.
Returned to form with a good second over an extended 2m4f at Plumpton (good-to-soft) earlier this month. Raised 2lb for that effort and a repeat of that should see him involved in the finish.
Stepped up on previous efforts when a good fourth over 2m3f at Warwick (good-to-soft) on handicap debut just under a month ago. Held up that day and remains open to improvement stepping up in distance.
Sole victory came in a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan (yielding-to-soft) well over five years ago. Probably best watched back over hurdles having been beaten 70L in a handicap chase at Fakenham (2m5f, good) earlier this month.
Nine race maiden failed to stay when stepping up to 2m7f at Lingfield (good-to-soft) recently. Previously a fair 18L fifth over an extended 2m5f at Fontwell (soft) last month. Races from out of the handicap.
Forecasts
Urtheonethatiwant (3/1), Martabot (4/1), Zante (9/2), Tudors Treasure (11/2), Cracker Jak (6/1), Sizing Sahara (12/1), Pete's Choice (14/1), Tunnel Creek (20/1), Remember Me Well (33/1), Exotic Friend (33/1)
ZANTE ran well at Plumpton last time out and he is taken to provide his trainer with a winner in this competitive handicap hurdle. The selection looks capable of seeing off his rivals here with Urtheonethatiwant capable of claiming second spot following a good effort on his return to action last time out while third place can go the way of Pete's Choice who should appreciate this step up in distance and remains open to improvement.
- Zante
- Urtheonethatiwant
- Pete's Choice
