Has been in excellent form this year since switching back to chasing for this yard. 5lb rise for his latest effort not unreasonable and probably has one in him off this sort of handicap mark; game sort who is expected to go well again.
On the upgrade in France last seaosn, winning three heavy ground chases before joining this yard. Ran in to a well-handicapped sort on yard debut last time out and expected to go well again provided the ground isn't too quick for him here.
Has just one win since 2015 and badly out of form in his last two starts, most recently when unseating his rider at Wincanton. Risky proposition at present.
Pulled up at the Festival here over a similar trip but bounced back with a smart effort at Aintree when fourth of 16 at the Grand National meeting. Entitled to need this on return but seemingly getting better year on year.
Frustrating to follow last year when runner-up on five occasions and while he returned with an impressive effort at Aintree in November, he failed to back that up here next time. Seemingly better suited by a flat track.
Inconsistent sort who won well at Aintree but only ran okay in defeat here on New Year's Day. Course winner but probably would have preferred softer ground than what is likely here.
Has been in good form since he was switched back to fences and stayed on in game fashion at Haydock last time out. Step back up in trip likely to suit and versatile with regards ground so can't be ruled out.
Has won four of his last five starts and still looks fairly treated after a 5lb rise for an Exeter success last time out. Rates as the type to improve through the ranks for this yard and has been freshened up since his latest start.
Won at Warwick back in February but in poor form in four subsequent starts and hard to fancy, despite a reduced handicap mark.
Useful staying chaser who won at Ayr back in November. While that was similar trip/ground to what he gets here, he rates as the type to progress over further and he's in a deeper race. Has won five of his last eight runs so not taken on lightly.
Looked the sure winner when falling at the last at Chepstow in November but gained compensation at Exeter last time out in good fashion. Still well-handicapped off his revised mark and expected to go well.
Forecasts
Janika (5/2), Siruh Du Lac (6/1), Ballyhill (7/1), Activial (8/1), War Sound (8/1), Brelan D'As (9/1), The Kings Writ (10/1), Forest Des Aigles (14/1), Casse Tete (16/1), Oldgrangewood (20/1), Sizing Platinum (40/1)
THE KINGS WRIT is still on a workable mark and would be bidding for a four-timer here if he hadn't of fallen at Chepstow two starts back. Janika is an obvious danger while Brelan D'As isn't ruled out for last year's winning connections.
- The Kings Writ
- Janika
- Brelan D'As
