Three-time AW winner (5f-6f) on a variety of surfaces - Tapeta, Fibresand and Polytrack; 1L runner-up to Mercers over C&D on New Years Eve on first appearance since wind surgery; closely matched with Pharoh Jake and Chicago School.
Veteran and a Lingfield regular; made all when scoring off a 1lb higher mark here in July (Class 6) and a respectable third to Social Butterfly latest; chance.
Notched his first win in over 18 months when scoring in a decisive manner over C&D in May 2018 (for John Butler); not so effective since for Paul Howling and now reappears for yet another different trainer; fitted with cheekpieces.
Cost 120,000gns as a yearling but now a 14-race maiden; she didn't get home when competing over 6f here in December (fourth) and drops back to 5f for the first time since September having plummeted in the weights.
Regularly competitive over C&D at the back-end of 2017. However, hasn't shown much which would yield any encouragement in a couple of recent outings since returning from a 12-month absence; risky despite being handily weighted.
Climbing the weights after a productive spell of form at Dunstall Park Wolverhampton (5f); likely to be forcing the pace early (runner-up on sole Lingfield start) and another good ride today for 7lb claimer Seamus Cronin.
Veteran of 126 races and a real money spinner over the years; back to winning ways over C&D last week when staying on strongly to beat Entertaining Ben by 2L; unpenalised for that Apprentice Handicap win.
Hasn't won since December 2017 (when with Anthony McCann in Ireland); not far behind today's rivals Fareeq (second) and Pharoh Jake (third) when finishing fourth to Mercers over C&D on New Years Eve.
Seven-race maiden; hasn't beaten all that many rivals (combined) in his last three starts and rates as most unappealing; stablemate of Thegreyvtrain.
Prominent racer who doesn't really see out her races, hence an overall career record of 0-11; stablemate of Clevedon, with neither of those horses looking the likeliest of winners; look elsewhere.
Forecasts
Alaskan Bay (7/2), Fareeq (4/1), Pharoh Jake (5/1), Sandfrankskipsgo (6/1), Shackled N Drawn (7/1), Hula Girl (8/1), Waneen (10/1), Chicago School (12/1), Thegreyvtrain (25/1), Clevedon (33/1)
Set fast and furious from the outset with a number of these low-grade handicappers known for forcing the pace, including SANDFRANKSKIPSGO (2), Alaskan Bay (6) and Thegeryvtrain (3). Undoubtedly with these type of races, there's always going to be the old adage of taking their respective turns, and it was the turn of Pharoh Jake here last week. He'll be popular in the betting (escapes a penalty) but his rider Ellie Mackenzie will need plenty of luck in-running from off the pace in stall one.
- Sandfrankskipsgo
- Alaskan Bay
- Fareeq
