Ended a long losing run over C&D last time out and has been consistent on AW this winter. 6lb penalty to carry for his win though and looks vulnerable from a win perspective.
Gained a second career win over this trip at Chelmsford in December. Compromised his chance with a slow start here last time but seemed to handle the surface okay and the return of Rodriguez to the saddle is a positive.
Eight-time AW winner (three C&D) who went close over this C&D on his seasonal return in November. Not disgraced in two starts since, despite finishing out of the places and not without an each-way chance.
C&D winner in January but only seen once since and tailed off on his return here in November. Remains with potential but he's a risky proposition at present.
Two-time C&D winner here last year and had been running well in defeat back at this course before a freak incident here Thursday when unseating the rider coming out of the stalls. Can be forgiven that and capable of going well.
Arrives bidding for a C&D hat-trick and she's been a revelation since switched to this surface, yet to finish outside the first three home. Leading claims from just 4lb higher here.
Losing run is mounting up but he's an eight-time course winner who has been running well in defeat of late. Should go well again but perhaps vulnerable to anything well-handicapped.
Forecasts
Ornate (5/2), Chookie Dunedin (7/2), Samovar (7/2), Mininggold (13/2), Crosse Fire (7/1), Something Lucky (12/1), Cool Spirit (25/1)
A competitive heat but the suggestion is to side with MININGGOLD in her bird for a course and distance hat-trick. The mare only has a 4lb rise in the weights to cope with and she had a bit to spare when winning here last week. Trainer Scott Dixon has two live chances with his course specialists Crosse Fire and Samovar but the main danger to the selection could be Chookie Dunedin who ran on well despite a slow start here last time.
- Mininggold
- Chookie Dunedin
- Samovar
