Southwell specialist who was a fair second at that track on his chasing debut (3m) in October - beaten 2L by Rhaegar; disappointing at Bangor since and now seeks to get back on track.
Stays well and was in the process of running a fair race at Ascot in November (3m) until falling at the third last fence; heavy ground a possible excuse for a much lesser showing since; eased 3lb in the weights.
Consistent 9yo who is twice a previous Warwick winner (including in this race in 2016 - 6L scorer); 5lb higher than when beaten a neck by Quarenta over C&D 18 days ago; obvious contender.
Largely reliable in the second half of last season with form figures reading 5223 after winning at Newbury (2m7f+, soft) in January; first racecourse appearance for 260 days.
Plenty of placed form but remains a maiden after making eight starts under rules (0-2 over fences); fenced moderately throughout when beaten 16+L by Absolutely Dylan latest (Haydock); visor is newly-applied.
Without a win for some considerable time (April 2016), so the handicapper is finally beginning to show some leniency; not overly encouraging so far this season, albeit over 3m2f at Uttoxeter latest.
Won off this mark (110) over a marathon trip (3m4f, soft) at Taunton in March, but hasn't really got going this season (has competed in various regional 'nationals'); nothing to be lost by dropping back in trip.
Has shown promise over hurdles (2m-2m4f) since joining Venetia Williams, and did manage to score over fences for A.Adeline De Boisbrunet at Lignieres in October 2016; interesting if the market speaks positively post wind surgery.
Posted back-to-back wins (2m4f-3m) in the early months of 2018 before fading back into the shadows towards the end of last season; visor on for seasonal reappearance following further wind surgery.
Difficult to explain a poor run at Uttoxeter in June (pulled up), but was a 20L winner of a C&D CJ's handicap under today's rider immediately prior; sits 11lb above that winning mark.
Won off this mark at Newton Abbot (3m2f, good) in October 2016 and lightly-raced since; placed (well beaten) at Hereford latest, and whilst this commands more, he has won over C&D previously back in May 2015; place claims.
Sprung a surprise (28/1) under a fine ride when winning a small-field Beginners Chase (3m+, heavy) at Towcester in March; reliable since (without excelling); could prove sharper for his seasonal reappearance run at Plumpton.
Forecasts
Merry Milan (5/1), Voie Dans Voie (11/2), Commodore (6/1), Cadeau Du Bresil (6/1), Capard King (6/1), Muckle Roe (7/1), Early Retirement (10/1), Horatio Hornblower (12/1), Moorlands George (16/1), Goodnight Charlie (20/1), Cap Horner (20/1), Oneida Tribe (28/1)
MUCKLE ROE is somewhat of a Warwick specialist (form figures here read 213122) and he plundered this race from a 12lb lower mark in 2016. He arrives in excellent form following a narrow C&D defeat (by Quarenta) earlier this month, and despite a subsequent 5lb rise in the weights rates as the horse the others must beat. Alternatives at better prices include the returning Horatio Hornblower, the wind-operated upon Commodore and the stout stayer Moorlands George.
- Muckle Roe
- Moorlands George
- Commodore
